The Fabric of Life Boutique gives visitors in downtown Edmonds, WA a chance to support hundreds of fair trade artisans from around the world.
Fabric of Life was formed in 2002 and has been involved in many developmental, educational, charitable, and multicultural projects in Edmonds and internationally.
In 2005, Fabric of Life opened the Hèrè jè Center in Bamako, Mali. The center was a cooperative that taught traditional, financial, and marketing skills. Young women who were 10-25, some disabled, and whose only source of income was through begging, were given a chance to become micro-entrepreneurs. Two classes of ten women each graduated in 2007 and 2010. Some women went on to start their own businesses, work for other businesses, or marry and start their own families. Still others started a co-op, creating products that can be found in our boutique today.
In 2009, the Fabric of Life Boutique opened in downtown Edmonds, WA. The boutique has been involved in many events to raise support and awareness for important issues locally and abroad. Today, the store carries products made by over 800 fair trade artisans from around the world, as well as local artists. We continue to participate in and hold community and cultural events.
