ABOUT THE FAIRCHILD WELLNESS RETREAT
The Fairchild Wellness Retreat at 401 Oak Street is the oldest house in Overbrook, KS and is situated on the old Santa Fe Trail. The house was built in 1875 by J.B. Fairchild, co-founder of Overbrook. The newly renovated portion of this historic home has been converted into the Wellness Center.
J.B. Fairchild and W.T. Coffman donated 30 acres each to establish the town when the Kansas, Nebraska, & Dakota built through the area. Coffman and Fairchild had farms side by side on which they started the town. They gave the railroad half-interest in the town in return for the railroad coming through the town site.
The original home consists of the four main rooms with wood floors (living room, entry room, dining room, and bedroom). The previous owner bought the house when it was condemned and just about to be demolished. His renovations included adding a large kitchen, second bedroom, bath/laundry and garage in the back.
In 2012 Cheryl Miller bought the home and continued with the renovation including converting the two car garage in the front into the Fairchild Wellness Center. She planted 11 fruit trees and built raised-bed gardens as she envisioned the Fairchild Garden House and Wellness Center. She felt a home with this distinction needed a lot of TLC and resurrection energy.
ABOUT CHERYL MILLER, FOUNDER OF THE FAIRCHILD WELLNESS RETREAT
Cheryl Miller is an exercise physiologist, wellness strategist, and life coach. Cheryl is the former director of an award-winning wellness program for 80,000 employees, dependents, and retirees.
She has an M.S. in Exercise Physiology and Community Health and an M.A. in English. In 2003, Cheryl founded the online wellness portal www.CherylMillerVille.com offering resources for healthy, happy living…in this lifetime. She has written numerous ebooks and e-courses and has been called “one of the most innovative wellness coaches in the industry.”
