Famous Anthony's

Description

Famous Anthony's began in Roanoke in 1986 at the Tanglewood location and soon became a well-known stop for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant has developed unique menus of quickly prepared entrees, which are moderately priced and offer customers a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices. All our food is prepared to order and customer preferences are honored. In addition to full service breakfasts and the variety of lunch and dinner selections, we also have daily specials to accommodate family diners.

Famous Anthony's is recognized as one of Roanoke's most awarded restaurants. Following the success of the Tanglewood restaurant, in 1992 a second location opened at Southwest Plaza. In 1994, the Salem store began operation. The Crystal Spring store opened in 1996, 460 East in 1998, Brookside in 1999, and Vinton in 2000. Our franchise location, which is located in Christiansburg at 6 Radford Street, opened in the summer of 2004. Our first Lynchburg, Virginia location, at 2104 Wards Road, opened in the fall of 2004. Following its success, our second Lynchburg, Virginia location, at 2631 Lakeside Drive, opened in the fall of 2008.

Famous Anthony’s has won several awards from the readers of Roanoker Magazine for 2008: Silver in Best Biscuit, Silver in Best Neighborhood Restaurant, Silver in Best Business Breakfast, Platinum in Best Inexpensive Lunch, Platinum in Best Restaurant to take the kids along, and Platinum in Best Family Breakfast.

As your award winning neighborhood restaurant and a good corporate citizen, we support local schools and sports teams as well as civic organizations and charities. Famous Anthony's little league teams, Pee Wee football teams, and basketball teams play throughout the Roanoke Valley. We support area high school after prom parties, area high school yearbooks and contribute to a variety of charitable organizations including the Relay for Life, Junior League, American Caner Society, March of Dimes, Special Olympics, and many others. Our ability to maintain this level of community involvement to continue to maintain high standards of service and food quality, is the result of the ongoing support of our loyal customers and each of our employees taking pride in our restaurants, our products, and our service.

Visited 2 days before they planned to close this location. The place was 80% full and the staff seemed sad to see it close. Food is basic diner fare with the decor to match. Regulars in the community will miss it.Food: 4/5
One of the BEST places to eat in Lynchburg! I recommend the Mediterranean grilled chicken wrap. But everything is so good.
The worst! Drove from halifax co. 45 mins was so disappointed. Ordered curbside. Was excited to try chili almost 7.00 because it came with chips..the size was half a cup..ask the young lady she said that's takeout container size...ordered 2 chopped steak dinners one smothered in onions the other no onions...it doesn't come with gravy..I can deal with that but had three pin size onions on BOTH..when the order specifically said no onions on one..my husband is allergic..so he couldn't eat it....we have ate breakfast there before and it was delicious...will never go again....
So sad to see Anthony's closing we have been going there for years. They have the greatest w ait staff anywhere in the city, very friendly and personable. The atmosphere is great with customers always seeing friends and family there, and did I mention that breakfast items were always great. Best of luck to all employees In the future you will be truly missed.
We tried Famous Anthony's this morning while on our way home from vacation. It looked and smelled a little old and dingy but our waitress was incredibly friendly. All of our food looked delicious. Coffee was good too. My husband and daughter got pancakes and they were very good! I got the waffle and home fries. First of all, they were the best home fries I've ever had. They were so delicious. I could have just ate a few orders of them. But I couldn't even eat the waffle I ordered. Right at the first bite it tasted great, but the flavor immediately shifted, and it was like...tart. or sour? I couldn't quite place what it was. My husband used the same butter and syrup on his pancakes as I used on my waffle so it wasn't those things...so it was either something that was on the plate or in the waffle. But it was totally inedible. I'd bet they don't usually taste like that so I wouldn't say it was too bad of an experience.
Our kids were telling us we should try this place. We did, unfortunately, we were not super impressed. The food was just okay. The restaurant itself didn't look as if it had been cleaned in years. The staff was all young people who acted as if they didn't want to be there. The host didn't greet us when we entered. I walked up to him and he just looked at me like I was a bother. He finally sat us. The waitress was very pleasant. The food was just okay. Nothing special. The restrooms were filthy. Unfortunately, I doubt that we will return anytime soon.
Been once years ago. Grits were really runny, almost like extremely watered down. Now I know the place now has a better cook in the kitchen who's good I've had at another restaurant so maybe me and my wife will try again.Food: 2/5
The food was delicious my over medium eggs were perfect! Compliments to the cooks great job I don't recall the waitresses name but she was very sweet and attentive at all times. Her kindness was worth a 30% tip I can tell you that! My five stars goes towards our terrific server, delicious food and great cooks. The young ladies that work at the front counter as cashiers need some real improvement with customer service skills. If they are unhappy with their place of employment seek out other employment that makes you happy. Or....put on the fake mask and just smile and grin and bare it for the sake of the customers please. You are the first faces upon entering and the last when exiting. Take pride in your work and make the customers feel welcomed please. Thank you kindly.
Sweet tea tasted off & the ice water tastes funny near the bottom too. Eggs were a little overcooked. Pancakes were dark. Apples were a little overcooked as well. Ketchup on the women's bathroom door handle. Waitress service was great!!! Price was less than $40 for 4 people which is also great! The location was very busy so I think most of the staff was doing pretty good with all consideration.
My family and I stopped in for dinner and we were satisfied with our meal and our waitress was fantastic! We asked about suggestions and she raved over the chicken club sandwich and told us about the all you could eat shrimp deal. The club sandwich was so good! I can’t remember her name but she made sure our cups stayed filled and check on us consistently to see how things were. We would definitely visit again!
