Located in the restored historic train station, the Fayette Depot was built in 1913 and is located on Temple Avenue downtown Fayette Alabama. The Museum contains wealth of historical artifacts. Help keep the Depot open by joining FHS&DM. Send your $25 yearly dues or other donations to Treasurer Dale Lawrence at P.O. Box 309 Fayette Al. 35555. We rely on this revenue to keep the Depot Museum open for the public to enjoy.
To share the history of the people of Fayette & Fayette Co.
Fire destroyed everything on Temple Ave. except the Depot in 1911. As Fayette was burning the people realized the one building they must save was the Depot as it would play a vital role in rebuilding Fayette from the ashes. They were successful. Today our Depot tells the story of the fire and holds hundreds of other treasures that makes Fayette a truly unique place to visit.
