I love Feast. This is always my go-to when in Bloomington and looking for something delicious. It's a tiny place so for brunch, I'd always recommend going early as they fill up quickly. In the evenings, I think it's hit or miss. I went on a Thursday and there were only a handful of other tables. Expect spectacular food with excellent service in a warm, casual atmosphere. I'm always shocked at how reasonable my bill is because considering the creativity and quality of the food this place isn't expensive at all! I will always make a visit to see what's new on their menu and I would most definitely recommend you try it too!
Amazing Sunday brunch with many delicious vegetarian/ vegan options. Friendly and fast service Highly recommend Cafe Cubano and Potatoes Bravas! Added some photos of the Potatoes Bravas, Baigan Bennie, Lentil Plantain tamale and the Avocado Toast.
Wonderful Restaurant! Original and amazingly delicious dishes, creatively served to look enticing. Food is always fresh and tasty. Amazing salads and original soups. I absolutely love their pasties! Best cakes in town. The pistachio cream pie is out of this world, and the 7th cloud cake angel food cake is so light and tasty it's incredible. I adore their coffees and teas---great selection!
As you walk in the attractive pastry and coffee counter lends itself to a quaint neighborhood cafe. Then the waitstaff insisted we sit and all of a sudden the place seemed stiff and starchy. The higher prices are another reminder that youre not just around the corner. The coffee selections are creative. I was glad to see they offer oat milk as a nondairy alternative but the barista had no idea what to do with it. My cappuccino was lackluster. The blue azul tamale playe was beautiful, the salad and yellow rice the star of the show. The blue corn was so potent you couldnt taste the filling of the tamale. That yellow rice though I would come back for. Maybe Ill give it another try. Maybe not.
Had some breakfast, coffee and brunch on two different days. All really good and not expensive. Get there early and grab a patio seat, they can be busy!
This is one of the best restaurants in Bloomington and we are frequent patrons. The food is amazing. A few of our favorite dishes are the Croque Madame, The BLT, The Classic Burger, and the Butter Biscuits. As other reviews have said, the seating space is extremely limited—I would say they have approximately ten tables inside, and have outdoor seating as well, however in the winter months I’m not sure you can find many people who would sit at an outdoor table. I would like to give this restaurant five stars, but we had an unpleasant experience today with the hostess. We planned to eat at Feast this morning and due to the limited indoor space, the near freezing temperature, the rain, and two of our four person party being four months old and seventy years old, I sent my husband in to wait for our table. He was told it would be a 30-45 minute wait, and since the indoor space was packed full of brunch goers, my husband told me that we the other three members of the party should wait until our table was ready to come to the restaurant, given we live a 3-5 minute walk from Feast. When our name was called, the host attempted to give our table away to another party because my husband was the only person present. He explained that he didn’t want his seventy year old mother or his four month old son waiting outside in the rain—at which point the hostess told him he was slowing the table turn around and implied they could make more money seating a party who was entirely present. He insisted on being seated and the rest of our party arrived three minutes later. The restaurant was so full you could not open the doors without hitting people. I have ten years of experience working in food service and this situation was completely inappropriate. I understand being reluctant to seat only part of a party, but if that is Feast’s policy, restaurant patrons need to be notified when they join the waiting list. You should never tell a patron that you are trying to seat and turn over as many tables as possible to make the most money. If you are so concerned about table turnover, start looking for a new venue with more tables, and if you would like your guests’ entire party to be present, have enough space for them inside the door. We have visited this restaurant approximately ten times in the past three months, and I wish this experience wouldn’t affect our relationship with Feast, but I don’t see us coming back any time soon.
Thank the universe for dropping this chef and her team into middle America. You know those moments when all NYC food begins to taste the same and you start seeking out the street food pop ups? I do. American high cuisine exists outside NYC, LA and Frisco. Don't believe me? Try Feast. And it is absolutely worth the wait. Think avacado toast can't be elevated? Check my picture which doesn't do the flavors justice...
Been here for Sunday brunch busy and week night dinner not as busy. Worth the wait for brunch. I would call ahead, but still expect to wait a bit. Dinner was excellent and brunch was exceptional. Some have mentioned it is pricey- it is more than many Midwestern chains, but the quality is much better. Honestly, it's on par with other places in town of similar quality. The portions can be on the smaller side for the meat or creamy dishes, but the flavor is not compromised and you won't leave feeling gorged like at a cheap buffet. Excellent service as well!
EDIT: we've had a couple bad experiences with the owner now and the most recent left us especially frustrated. Rest of the staff are largely excellent, but the owner really brings the service level down. ORIGINAL: This is the best food in Bloomington. Dishes are always good, and sometimes excellent. The space is nice, though could be a little larger, and less cafe-like, but that's a quibble. My only real complaints are that the wine list could be better leans heavy towards over-extracted B.S. wines that don't fit with the food, and we've experienced one bad apple among the staff--who are otherwise awesome.
A regular eatery. Higher prices is the only signal of better quality, otherwise - an absolutely regular place. My pretentious ex likes it, so we go there with our daughter, but it is an average place. I am not saying it is bad, it has some design, it is well-lit and spacious. But it is the way all places need to be, a very good, solid, average. In fact, if not their above average prices, i would even give it four stars.
