My gf has been a patient of one Dr Robert Smith of Fingerlakes Medical Care. I am her driver to appointments when she can’t bus, and we both are wheelchair bound. Rough weather makes it hard to get anywhere! Yesterday after missing a couple appointments, she received a missed appointment warning letter, and a patient discharge/termination letter on the SAME afternoon?? In what universe is that right?? What part of mobility impairment don’t they get. Was this partially Medicare discrimination? We took a chance on him, despite a previous ethics violation that docked his record. He failed her/us. We are going to impose a multipronged approach to sanctioning him, including press, and legal consult. We will amend reviews under conditions of mutual agreement but we don't mess around!
My 2 children and I recently visited Finger Lakes Family Care to establish family care with them. During my son's check-up, the nurse practitioner put the check-up down as a sick visit, simply b/c my son had a cold. I kept telling her that this is our first visit, a regular wellness check-up and she reassured me that it will be covered by my insurance no matter what. Now, I got the bill that I have to pay for his visit?! It really sucks that I have to fight this bill with and explain the situation to the billing dept. Honestly, she didn't do much but getting his weight & height and asking bunch of questions. Though the staff are friendly, it's too bad that this care provider is clueless and not helpful. I guess we are looking for another family care provider who is truly looking out for our best interest ...
Cancelled my appointment twice in a row. Tried to reschedule and the soonest they had was another month out. It’s October and I’ve been waiting to be seen since August. Edited to add: according to my new provider, Dr. Smith failed to notice a health problem that was apparent from my blood work. I feel frustrated because I had specifically had my blood tested to check on that issue. It would have been nice to find out about this problem when I took the time to get it tested before. What a waste of time and money. I’m so glad I switched doctors. I am now receiving treatment I should have received from Dr. Smith. From my experience with this doctor, he seems to be the type of guy who became a doctor so he could dress well and afford nice vacations.
Extremely caring and compassionate nursing and office staff. Dr Smith has helped me so much, and am grateful for these people that have gone to school for years, sacrificed so much of their time, head-space, and money to help me in my time of need. God bless them for their efforts :
Edit: The rude receptionist has been replaced with a very cordial and pleasant woman. My recent appointment with Dr. Smith went very well. My pain issue has been addressed and I feel amazing! I am so grateful to Dr. Smith and his team. I really felt like my feedback was heard and they took steps to address the problems. Original: Leigh Lafferty RN, MS FNP-C, is amazing and gets all the stars. If I were only reviewing her, she would get 5 STARS. The receptionists are rude, impatient, and have a poor attitude even for a simple call to schedule an appointment. I still have an ongoing health problem which wasn't addressed. No options were suggested for the pain, just a short 1 minute phone call from the receptionist with the results. She basically said, "it's not broken," well that's great but I'm still in pain every day. I'm a pretty patient person, but the best people at this practice are the nurses. They deserve better colleagues. It's no wonder this practice is always accepting new patients.
He was great in the early stages, even referring my significant other to appropriate specialists for hematuria, so I know he has skill. I take issue w his sense of discretion, ethics, and patience. He has repeatedly discharged patients for too many cancelations, when they have been in impossible situations- like a paraplegic w bad circulation, not wanting to navigate heavy snow! He's done this to multiple patients including said GF, and including an RN's mom! He allegedly called off a stroke patients discharge to rehab, over the same thing, leaving him stranded for additional time! Skill means little, if you aren't well- rounded. Update 9/22: He sent out letters to patients/former ones, WAIVING THE WHITE FLAG. Folding the office, and relocating to Carolinas.
Only thing good about his place was the NP Leigh Lafferty. She is the only reason I continued to go there. She is an amazing CNP and wish she was in a different practice as she is the only nice one there.. I finally had enough and left once I had blood work done and they never called me to discuss it. I found out by the receptionist when she called saying I can't fill my prescription which I already had. This was completely uncalled for, I should not hear about whats in my lab results form a receptionist. The staff were always rude and unpleasant to speak to and I finally had enough. I moved over to Dr, Khan and I LOVE him and the staff at Shortsville Family Practice. Couldn't be happier.
I wish people myself too took the time to review. This office is well run. Staff and clinitians are responsive to requests, timely, accurate, flexible, and consistent. The medical team are attentive, thorough, and comprehensive. The affiliation with Strong Hospital and the University of Rochester and medical center gives peace of mind that you are in good hands.
When this "doctor" tells me an excuse for work for a UTI... I dont think you need to miss work for an UTi.... that is crazy does he understand how painful an UTI is what kind of doctor say something like this to a patient?
I've only seen the actual doctor twice. Once in person, and once in the newspaper lol. The PA's, Nurses, front desk people are awesome. Nothing to complain about really.
