Description

Exhibit Hall:
This versatile facility is utilized by the museum to display both permanent and traveling exhibits. Topics include closeups of events, people and places in Finney County. Permanent exhibits include "Spirit of the Plains," "C.J. Buffalo Jones," "Take Stock in Finney County" and "The Windsor Hotel." The temporary gallery features special exhibits that are changed about twice a year.

Research Library:
The museum's research library is an excellent research center. It offers primary sources for the history of Finney County and assistance with family genealogy. The library contains a large photograph collection, archives and manuscript material, original newspapers, maps and microfilm of early day publications.

Fulton House:
The Fulton House, home of town founders, William D. and Luticia Fulton, is one of the few remaining houses from the earliest days of Garden City. Built in 1884, William and Lettie's last home is a delightful one and one-half story national folk style house surrounded by charming flower gardens. The living room and dining room have been restored and furnished with period furniture and accessories. The front parlor houses and informative exhibit about early Garden City and the four founding families.

Pleasant Valley School:
One of the finest examples in Kansas of a one-room schoolhouse, Pleasant Valley School was moved to Finnup Park in Garden Cit5h in the 1970s. Build in the 1890s, it served as a social center as well as a school for many decades.

Collections:
The museums collection of artifacts and research material is extensive. The Society is interested in photographs, research material and artifacts relating to Finney County. By donating to our collection you help can help preserve history.
