Fire Water BBQ N Brew in Crest Hill, IL is top notch. I went with the three meat platter, Angus beef brisket, pulled pork, BBQ rib tips. and slaw. Everything was very good. I believe brisket is the hardest meat to do well consistently. This brisket was really good. Pretty tender, maybe a little light on smoke but still good. I will definitely return the next time I’m in the area.
Being from Kansas City, I'm not really impressed by bbq in other cities. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the ribs and brisket here at Firewater BBQ! The ribs had a wonderful flavor to them, due to their hand rub. The brisket, which is not easy to cook, was very tasteful while not being too "fatty". With a choice of 5 flavors of sauces you're sure to find something you like. I love the sweet sauce! When I walked in and was greeted by Karen and her sense of humor, I knew I was in for a great experience! I love places that make you feel like you're visiting a friend's house. Firewater is one of those places. Kristen, Michael and Krystal, were definitely working as a team in the kitchen; everything was prepared quickly, and what seemed like effortlessly! The presentation of the good was beautiful; you almost don't want to dig in to it; but you will!! I would happily recommend this place to anyone who knows good bbq! That's for a great experience!
I tried this place today and it lived up to the hype in some ways, but fell pitifully short in others. I got chicken wings, which were delightfully smoky and still juicy, and burnt ends, which were fantastic. The smoked chicken was a little on the dry side, but it had good flavor. Their meats definitely qualify as, probably, the best bbq in the area. And their cornbread was sweet, if also a little dry. Where things fell apart was their sides. I got their “3-cheese Mac” and it’s without doubt one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten. It’s like they just took one of the glass jars of cheez whiz and plopped some on top of noodles. It was just plain awful. That they think something like that is good to serve to people paying their hard earned money for a meal loses them an entire star on principle. It was truly atrocious, which is surprising because it’s really not hard to make good Mac & Cheese. We also had fries and brisket beans, each of which was fine, but nothing special. It’s important that sides are at the same level as the main entrees, as customers want a complete experience. But the staff was pleasant and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. The place is certainly worth a try. My recommendation is just order the meat and make your own sides. And if someone you are with tries to order the Mac & Cheese and care about them in the slightest, physically restrain them. You’ll find a better version in a prison mess hall.
Horrible experience this place has lost it. Will never go back there again. Was there yesterday around 4:30 placed an order for rib tip dinner to go and after waiting for almost 30 minutes finally received my so-called food, only to realize that the rib tips were so dry and hard besides the fact that they were terribly burned and had a soaplike taste. So passed off that I didn't bother to call or return. Threw away my $15.81 away. Would not feed any animal this food. Worst place ever now in my books.
First time in, got the two meat platter with pulled pork and chicken and my side was the house cut fries. The portion is large so that is a plus! My pulled pork and fries were very good, but my chicken- although flavorful, was lukewarm and a bit dry. Regardless, I'll still come back, and I think next time I'm going to be brave enough to try the pulled pork cheese fries!
I hate leaving bad reviews but I’m hoping this feedback will reach the right place. Customer service was great as far as friendly staff but the food was not great. Ribs were cold and texture was off. The brisket was very chewy and not warm. The macaroni sadly couldn’t even be compared to Kraft Mac n cheese. It was that awful, to no surprise that was even cold, bland, runny and flavorless. This place has a lot of potential and a polite staff. I hope they can work out the kinks because I love supporting small businesses in the area.
Haven't been there in a while cause they usually forget something in my order or the quality of food was bad. We had a taste for them so figured i try to give them the benefit of doubt and shame on me for not checking too. But again they forgot part of my order and the the rib tips were extremely salty so didnt finish and fries were burnt. They always seem greedy if you ask for more BBQ Sauce packs. Guess it will be awhile before going back again..
This place is GREAT, I mean it!! Me, my brother, and my father, and we went for dinner or lunch, and it was about $30 ish. But the food was great! We got the pull pork sandwich, the BBQ ribs, and the pork sandwich. It was like the food should have been $60! Also, the employees we're kind because my little brother knocked his cup over and it fell on the floor and the employee's help clean it up. Therefore, this is a great restaurant to go to. Kid-friendliness: Very great kid friendliness•Music without bad words•employee's nice to the kids.
My friend and I had the 3 meat plate. I had the burnt ends, brisket and wings. Baked beans honey cornbread Mac and cheese also the some kind of corn gravy. My friend and I was disappointed besides the wings and rib tips the corn gravy if you mixed with the corn bread that was cold made it taste good. Brisket was dry no favor burnt ends sauce not good. Mac& cheese soup was terrible beans too much apple vinegar. Taste. Tables are too small can't fit yoir legs under the tables. They Need better and simply great tasting sides dishes.
Just happened that the stars aligned and I was driving by on a cold and snowy afternoon when Firewater caught my eye and man, am I glad i went. I've been to a bunch of bbq places including many in the south and I'm not exaggerating when I say that their ribs and smoked wings were as good as anything I've ever eaten in the south. Great prices with a ton of food. The two meat platter alone could fill two adults. Staff is courteous and friendly. Best bbq in the immediate surrounding area hands down. 10/10
