FIU Global Jewish Studies Program provides lectures, seminars and conferences, film screenings and exhibitions on a wide variety of Jewish themes.
Under Director Tudor Parfitt, the Global Jewish Studies Program at Florida International University educates university students and faculty and the general South Florida community about Jewish history, culture, religion, literature, political science, and international relations. Jewish Studies offers academically rigorous, multidisciplinary courses at both the Biscayne Bay and University Park campuses in a wide range of departments.
A Certificate in Jewish Studies is available to those who complete an eighteen-credit interdisciplinary course program. The certificate can complement a student's major or be a stand-alone program for non-matriculated students pursuing personal enrichment or professional credentialization.
An exceptionally rich lecture and events series is organised both at the Jewish Museum of Florida in South Beach and also at the University Park Campus .
Our mission is that Florida International University will become one of the chief centers for the study of global Jewish communities. Our Program recognises the growing diversity of Jewish life and has a particular interest in the Sephardi and Mizrahi world, lesser known communities and emerging communities in Africa, Asia, the United States and Central and South America.
