They're absolutely the kindest folks there. No one makes you feel bad for needing food. They're kind and helpful.
Very friendly and compassionate staff/volunteers. Thank you for all you guys do!
Successful combination of work by La Puente and Americorp....much needed in this area. Volunteered here and every time people were in genuine need of food for that night alone. Being able to eat when you are hungry should be easier than this, but glad it exists.
Great staff great me mission. God bless.
What a Wonderful Organization! Different locations throughout SLV, to Help Everyone, when times are skinny!! Much LOVE!!
They help alot of people including us.
They don't have anything and they're rude.
Humiliating the alamosa one ...make sure you count and add your points up properly. They will literally make you pick and choose what to put back if your even a couple points over. Holding up the line of people trying to leave while you decide what items you can't "afford" to eat this month at the food pantry. I understand the reason for points and stretching donations to serve as many as possible. But human dignity is real too. Swallowing pride standing in line for free food and admittedly need help for basic human survival isn't enough you better put back those couple extra cans of mixed vegetables too. So the other poor people in line will see your shame and think twice before putting that can of corn in their cart without counting first. Maybe a simple you are a couple points over is there anything you don't deem a necessity this month in your cart? No OK quietly writes the over number on a piece of paper and sends you on your way. But hey I'm just a success story another person fed on paper. Who cares if I leave humiliated or more ashamed of my dire situation? No one except me and they know it so the class shaming continues even in the places that are "making a difference"
This is a good food bank for the most part. If you can get there early in the month or week, and try to be there as they open, you are more likely to get good groceries. If you go later, the pickings will be slim. The staff is usually friendly and can help you carry out your groceries. On a few occasions, I have received spoiled milk or moldy bread, but I don't blame the food bank for this, just time. But do make sure to check your groceries before consuming, as you don't want to get sick!
I give the Food Bank more then any star because if you are in need, they try their best to help us and help us through the bad and good. If anyone has anything food wise too donate, it would help the ones that is getting their lives together again and back on the road. Thanks to anyone that reads this and put it to heart.
