Forest Park Community Center was established in 1990. The organization originally operated from a small office located with in the Housing Authority of Joliet. Since relocating to its current location at 1017 Woodruff Rd. Joliet, IL the center became recognized in 1994 as a 501(c) (3) tax exempt community organization.
Strategic in choosing the location as well as board members and leader the late Executive Director and Founder Louise Ray the center plans to change the once poverty stricken / gang infested community was in full swing. With the heartfelt support from various agencies the momentum increased and various programs such as;
-Individual and family counseling
-Early learning Pre – School Center
-Job Training
-Food Distribution
-Full service Computer Lab
-Dress for Success (a program design to educate young men/women on how to obtain success).
Forest Park Community Center is dedicated to serving the families of the Forest Park community to enrich their lives through education and empowerment, to establish a safer environment that will promote an enhanced quality of life.
