So I took my daughter to the doctors on Tuesday bc I believed she was sick. She was having cough, runny nose, sneezing, congested breathing, and running a low grade fever. I took her to her Novant Health doctor. I really Love Novant Health facilities and I do really like her Novant Health doctor. They told me she probably had a cold. That evening she also threw up her formula three different times. I was also watching my son because I noticed he started to act more fussy and lovable. He also had coughing and runny nose. So yesterday I just watched her and him. This morning I got dressed for work and got him dressed for daycare but decided to check his temperature because I felt like he was burning up. He ended up having a temperature of 100.5 degrees. So I decided to take both of them to Forsyth Hospital in Winston Salem. I absolutely love Forsyth. That’s where I had my first son and I had an amazing experience and I’ve been there once or twice again since. I’ve never had a bad experience. We got there and a nurse saw I was struggling with heavy girl in her infant car seat and decided to get me a wheelchair so both kids can ride to where I needed to go. Then she immediately got me two toys for the kids. They’re so cute. And just look at that baby size killer whale! So they ended up saying both kids have a virus and we found out he has a nasty ear infection now from the virus. They proscribed him antibiotics and it actually ended up being free.
I had surgery recently at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and this was my first time coming here. I was kind of nervous after looking at some of the reviews but also knowing reviews are very biased for different reasons. My experience was really wonderful! Starting with the worker/volunteer at the first information desk. I didn't realize how big the hospital was since I had never been there. She immediately asked if I needed a wheelchair as my crutches were wearing me out. She went up to another floor and grabbed one and wheeled her chair around for me to sit down on while she got the wheelchair. She then directed us exactly where we needed to go. At check-in, the ladies were very welcoming. It was early morning but they genuinely seemed to love their job and made small talk which made me feel a bit less nervous about my surgery. The nurses, doctors, everyone I came across were amazing. They were extremely thorough in explaining everything to myself and my husband. At discharge, we were helped to the right location and a staff member waited with me for my husband to pick me. Overall, we had such a great experience and I am recovering well!
Had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Gave birth to my son here and every nurse/doctor and all staff were extremely kind and professional. The rooms were brand new and the first room I was in on the 4th floor was so nice and spacious. The anesthesiologist did a fantastic job explaining everything. So thankful to the staff for all that they did to get my little boy here safely. Thank you!
This facility is a small city. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's easy to get lost. They have staffing issues like all Healthcare seems to, but they do seem to take time with the patients. New cafeteria is open and the food is good. Not the usual cafeteria fare!
My mother was in a car accident a few months ago. My mom was in the ER for 7 hours. When my mom inquired about the test results from the x-rays, which was the only thing holding us there. Nurse Joy in the ER replied we have 120 patients in the ER. If you would like to leave, then you can sign yourself out. I'll never heard of a medical professional telling a patient who was just in a car accident. Well, if you don't like i,then you can leave. Also, this is not my first encounter with Nurse Joy. A few years back, my mom came to the ER, and this woman clearly does not have a good attitude when it comes to her job. She is rude to patients and visitors. I asked her for a simple work note, which would have taken 2 minutes to do, and she refused to give it to me because she didn't want to do any more than what she had to do. She made that clear because I overheard her talking about her upcoming plans for her birthday, which was the day of the visit. I get that since the pandemic medical workers are overworked but this woman clearly has no business in this field.
I have spent a lot of time visiting Forsyth hospital in the past year with my son as a patient. The hospital is a nice place, very well decorated and appealing in the lobby area. However, there are several things I didn't like! There is too much walking the halls to get to a patient's room. Every few days, they would move my son to a different room and it would be far away from the elevators! Walking from the parking deck into the hospital is enough exercise! I wish they would start the valet parking back! Other than the widespread layout of the hospital and all the excessive walking, I was pleased with the care my son received.
I was seen at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center on May 18, 2023 for surgery. I was extremely nervous about my surgery going in. From the moment I walked in, every person I encountered was extremely nice, and was there for me. My nurses were great! They were informative, helped me relax and funny at the same time. This definitely eased my anxiousness. The anesthesiologist and his nurse were wonderful and explained everything to me. My doctor was truly amazing! My surgery went great! After waking up from anesthesia, the nurses were very friendly, answered all of my questions and were very helpful. I was able to speak to my doctor and was able to go home shortly after. Thank you Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center for a wonderful experience and amazing care!
My mother-in-law has been at Forsyth Medical Center since Friday, Sept 1 2023, when they determined she needs a pacemaker. It's Tuesday, September 5th, and she is still waiting to get an update about when they will do her pacemaker implant. She is in a lot of pain. Pulse still under 50, she has gained so much fluid that she looks pregnant. The fluid is not coming off even with rounds of Lasix. Her blood pressure and blood sugar continue to be elevated. She has a UTI and kidneys are not functioning the way they should. They finally put her on oxygen yesterday after she has been feeling like she is suffocating. Nurse says yesterday that cardiology wants to give her more fluids in advance of the surgery, but then she is on Lasix to try to get the fluids down! The nurse said.. I am NOT giving her more fluids. This hospital is like a ghost town. She went in on Friday and has gotten worse. They said they would do the surgery today, once all the doctors were back from vacation!! Communication has been horrible. We were under the impression she would have surgery early this morning. They even cleaned her at 4am in preparation and then crickets. The respiratory person came this morning and says she hears a crackle in mom's chest and that could delay the surgery. They have been hearing a crackle for days and have done nothing. Very frustrating that everything is so unorganized. Even when we order her food, it takes over 2 hours. I ordered her tomato soup yesterday and the receipt showed estimated drop off at 1:27 and they did not bring it until 2:10. We ordered it at 12:15. It was cold. The room she is in needs a lot of repairs - no toilet paper holder - cracked sink. The cleaning crew is rarely seen. Yesterday, the nurse had to take out the trash because it was overflowing. I know businesses everywhere have problems with being short staffed and not wanting to work, but this is a hospital! One silver lining is that all of the nurses have been kind and attentive and we really appreciate that. Best advice I can give is go to another hospital or facility, one not in the Novant network, if you can.
Over my 60 plus years on this earth, I've been lucky enough to have had required surgeries at Forsyth Hospital just recently and in the past and I've always been well cared for by each and every staff member right down to the volunteers who wheeled me into the hospital before surgery and after. They are good folks still left in this world. I've met many of them at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. It's a blessing to have such a top notch facility close to home.
I wouldn't take my dog here. I work at a funeral home and their doctors do NOT sign death certificates when they're supposed to. I have a family needing cremation services for their loved one and we CANNOT cremate because the doctor won't take two seconds out of his day to sign the death certificate, and their front desk does NOT answer. The level of care is below sub par.
