This place is really worth visiting if you're interested in learning about history. They have amazing tours and exhibits that are both informative and enjoyable. The guides are super nice, smart, and friendly. They know a lot and are happy to share their knowledge with you. The fort is located in a great spot that gives you a wonderful view of the harbor. You can even sit on the patio inside and look out at the lake while you relax. It's a really nice place to take a break and soak in the surroundings. The guided tours happen every hour, so you can easily join one. However, it's a good idea to book in advance, especially during the summer when it gets busier. That way, you can make sure you secure your spot and don't miss out on the experience. Overall, if you're looking for a place that combines history, beautiful views, and friendly guides, this is the spot for you. It's easy to understand, enjoyable, and a great way to spend some time exploring and learning.
Great historical site to learn more about some of Canada’s history. Our guide was friendly and polite! They did a really amazing job of explaining the significance of everything and answering everyone’s questions. A canon was fired at the end of the day which was very cool. This is a great place for family’s and kids. There is a washroom and gift shop also.
Really cool place to visit and learn some Canadian history. This military fort was built at the junction of 3 major bodies of water to protect Canada from invading Army/Navy, primarily the Americans on the other side of the waters. Great to see and learn about the life of a soldier and his family during those times. Also great to see the rifle and canon performance by the Cadets.
Worth visiting for a glimpse into history. Great tour & exhibits. The guides are very courteous, knowledgeable & friendly. The fort is also at a great vantage point that overlooks the harbor. One can even grab a seat at the patio inside overlooking the lake. Guided tours take place on the hour every hour & booking in advance is recommended, especially coming into summer.

Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, is a captivating historical gem that immerses visitors in a journey through time. The well-preserved fortifications, dating back to the 19th century, offer a glimpse into Canada's military past. The knowledgeable staff, dressed in period uniforms, provide informative and engaging guided tours, sharing tales of the fort's strategic significance during various conflicts. Perched high above the scenic Kingston waterfront, the fort offers breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Ontario and the surrounding area. The meticulous restoration work and authentic period details make it easy to envision life within the fort's walls during its active years. One of the highlights is the daily ceremonial firing of the cannon, which adds a touch of excitement and realism to the experience. The interactive demonstrations, including musket firings and drills, give visitors a hands-on understanding of the soldiers' lives and duties. However, some visitors might find the admission fees a bit steep, especially for larger families. Additionally, the fort can get quite crowded during peak tourist seasons, which could detract from the overall experience. All in all, Fort Henry stands as a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, offering an educational and immersive journey into Canada's military heritage against the backdrop of stunning natural beauty. One of my favorite places to visit when in Kingston! Not only does it have a fantastic view but the history of the place is captivating. The staff here really sticks to their rolls which really makes you feel like you have travelled back in time!!! A MUST SEE while visiting Kingston.
Rare example in North America of a 19th century British fortress, this one guarding a naval shipyard and the terminus of the Rideau Canal. Impeccably restored. Informative exhibits and well-informed guides. Plus, cannon and musket fire!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
