Anthony “Sailor Tony” Reilly is the proprietor of Franklin's Barber Shop, located in the historic Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.
A Philadelphia native, Sailor Tony travelled extensively to hone his craft before coming back to his hometown to put down roots and put into practice what he had learned in his travels.
After college, he joined the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, and was deployed to Haiti and Afghanistan. During his 5 years in the Navy, Sailor Tony developed and pursued an interest in traditional barbering. On the G.I. Bill, he completed Barber School and was recruited to a Shop Manager role at Alfie's Barber Shop in Melbourne, Florida.
A burning desire to further his traditional barbering career, and learn from the best, caused Sailor Tony to drive 30 hours with his young family to Toronto, Canada to work as a Senior Barber at The Nite Owl Barber Shop (according to Hypebeast.com, a top-10-in-the-world traditional barbershop). His passion for very traditional, no-nonsense classic North American barbering and his attention to detail resulted in him being promoted to Shop Manager. As part of his leadership role, Sailor Tony was involved in training and setting standards, and welcoming Guest Barbers who were visiting The Nite Owl Barber Shop.
It is with great care, attention, and pride in the ancient craft of barbering, that Sailor Tony returns to his native Philadelphia to help people “look better, feel better", as the old barber slogan goes. When you pay a visit to Franklin's Barber Shop you will be supporting a veteran and a traditional American craftsman at work.
