Friends is organized to help the people of Hollywood, Florida, promote, retain, protect, and to educate and pass on to succeeding generations, a quality living environment. We promote public awareness of the significance of our natural lands and advocate for the perpetuation of agricultural, recreational, scenic and historical values. We encourage ciizen, legislative and administrative action toward the protection and restoration of our natural and historical heritage for the creation and perpetuation of communities that reflect those values, through creative planning and wise stewardship. We advocate for smart growth initiatives by assisting the residents of the City in playing an active role in guiding the location and timing of new development, and advocating to ensure that proposed plans and development follow the principles of smart growth. We accomplish goals by maintaining files and disseminating information on the activities of local, state and federal agencies as they affect a quality living environment; monitoring and strengthening communications with all relevant agencies; assisting existing conservation and environmental oriented organizations; and recording, analyzing and disseminating public records and other information for the purpose of improving communications and coordination among existing organizations, residents and friends of the City of Hollywood, agencies, and government bodies.
