We are one of the many Citizen Support Organizations (CSO) established by the state of Florida as a 501 ( c ) (3) non-profit to support Florida state parks.
In 2010, the Friends of Oscar Scherer Park, Inc. volunteered over 26,000 hours of service to the park.
Our mission is to support Oscar Scherer State Park through charitable, scientific, literary and educational functions; more specifically, through programs, activities and fund raising, which aims at fostering awareness of the park's importance as an environmental and recreational asset, as well as to assist in conserving its natural and cultural resources.
The Florida scrub jay is the only endemic (i.e., not found anywhere else) bird in Florida. This curious and endangered bird can often be seen in the scrub habitat at Oscar Scherer State Park. Come see what beautiful wildlife we have to offer from 8:00 am to sundown, 365 days a year!
