Extremely pleasant and helpful staff ! Beautiful facility! Keep up the great work ! If you have children, check out the live turtle aquarium in the children's area! Nice reading room and don't forget to peruse your favorite book on the outdoor lakeside patio! Friends of East Grand Rapids library has used book sales also with popular biographies, novels and non fiction..Worth a visit!
The staff were great on all my visits. They called me before I got home to let me know I dropped my library card. Great folks and coffee is available for $1. Nice view, plenty of seating, cool kids stuff on the lower level.
Went here to get my new library card & check out a book. The guy who helped me was so nice! Explained all the benefits like audiobooks I can access with my card. I used to go to KDL when I was younger & it’s so nice seeing people in the library & lots of new book selections. Definitely will be going more now :
A wonderful library. Spacious and friendly staff. I lucked out and there was a book sale!! Nice that it's on the lake and Reeds Trail!
This library is fine, my review is for KDL as a whole. There are no late fees, which is great for irresponsible patrons. Unfortunately now nobody returns their items on time. Pair that with the fact that KDL doesn't have enough copies of the classics and you often have several people waiting a long time with holds on these important books. Either bring back the late fees or invest in more copies of the classics. If you don't know which books are classics, then being a librarian is probably a poor choice for you. Referencing the Mensa Excellence in Reading lists would be a good start.
Libraries in general are invaluable. This one is also marvelously beautiful. Sit on a bench to read by the lake on a warm summer's eve, or sit in a comfy chair by the big plate glass windows and watch the lake from cozy indoors on a cold winter's day.
I love this Library. It’s my favorite. I went here with my class during my first year in the program in the spring time and the guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. He asked me if I had my Library card and I told him no but that I had my school ID and he told me that he could take that. We talked about the movie Apollo 13 and that my dad met Jim Lovell the man who was the inspiration behind the movie. I definitely recommend this Library because it’s beautiful and it overlooks the lake.
Friendly and helpful staff. Close to the lake and I can sneak in walks since I drove to the library. It’s nice to come in the library when you’re greeted and remembered by. It’s been kind of noisy few times I’ve been there. Kentwood library’s set up including space, quietness, etc. is still better in comparison. If The Kentwood had a lake in front or some nice garden from the top quiet floor, that would be even better.
One of my fave go-to places to relax and read with large windows overlooking beautiful Reeds Lake. There’s a very diverse selection of magazines, newspapers and books along with a wide variety of comfortable/functional seating. The Library sponsors many events & tours throughout the year. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Their online resources are accessible, thorough and very helpful. I come here often to do genealogy research since they have access to software that I don’t want to subscribe to. I also find many audiobooks available through their system to listen to on my phone. They make it super easy to check out materials. Parking can be an issue, and I wish they had other locations for returning materials. But this facility and its staff are top notch and a wonderful resource to the community.
A larger KDL library branch. I really enjoy it because there are tons of spaces to sit if you’re working or studying.
