Frontier Field

Description

Frontier Field is a baseball stadium located at One Morrie Silver Way in downtown Rochester, New York. The park opened in 1996, replacing Silver Stadium in northern Rochester, which had been home to professional baseball in Rochester since 1929. Although the stadium was built for baseball, Frontier Field has had several tenants in numerous sports, including the Rochester Raging Rhinos of the United Soccer Leagues from 1996 to 2005, the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse from 2001 to 2002, and the Rochester Red Wings of the International League since 1997. The ballpark seats 10,840 spectators for baseball.Rochester-based telecommunications company Frontier has held the naming rights to the ballpark since its opening in 1996. Frontier Field hosted the Triple-A All-Star Game on July 12, 2000.HistoryGround was broken on Frontier Field in November 1994. The stadium, designed by Ellerbe Becket, opened on July 11, 1996. Although Frontier Field was always intended to be primarily a baseball facility, it was constructed to be able to accommodate the Rochester Rhinos soccer team as well. After the Rhinos left Frontier Field for PAETEC Park in 2005, the Rochester Red Wings became the sole full-time tenant at Frontier Field. As a result, the Wings made upgrades to the park to make the stadium a better baseball facility. The first notable upgrade, the installation of a new 24ft by 32ft video scoreboard in left field, was completed in time for the 2010 season. Originally, a new grass turf was to be installed following the 2006 season to replace the grass that has been beat up over the years from extensive use in baseball, soccer, and lacrosse. No such replacement was made for 2007, but work commenced following that season and a new grass surface with an improved drainage system was installed prior to the 2008 season.

Had a amazing time at the new innovation field frontier in the power alley suits!! Thanks for the great food, drinks and wonderful view! we sat right next to the red wings bullpen! only down fall is that there was a little walk to the bathrooms. but the indoor seating with personal seats outside the suite with a small patio on other side! good time and good people! we will be back!! The minus star is for the bathroom walk. still great though!!
Had a blast with my friends for the Red Wings game! We parked across the street for $6, cash only. Tickets were $15 on game day. My friend said you can buy tickets in advance, but it doesn’t seem worth it with all the fees. There are certain size bags/purses that can be brought in. Plenty of concession stands to choose from. Overall, a great time to get together with friends & family.
What a perfect summer evening at the ballpark. Although the Red Wings lost, it was great to get out of the house and watch some ball. One star less as I was rushing home from work to grab my son to attend. If you know downtown Rochester- there was no where to get cash. The parking all around the stadium was cash only. I forgot to get cash during the day. We drove around some shady areas looking for free parking or a garage. We found parking and got to the game. Prices are expensive for food and beverage- but so is everywhere else for an evening out at a stadium. It was a nice evening at the park.
Fun night out ! $6.00 CASH ONLY parking. Food and beverages $4.75 ice cream cone, prices above average but normal for the venue.
Amazing minor league ballpark. The view of the city and the train line behind right field give this ballpark a great feel. Seats are good, sit on the third base side of you don’t want to sit in the sun for evening games. Tons of food options for baseball games.
Great experience! Wonderful stadium. Great food! You have to try the trash plate in a cup. Messy but so good! Spike the mascot is great with the kids, so patient and kind.
Great time at the game. I wish the food quality matched the over price..... But as I kept hearing all night.... It was better "Pre -Covid"
Love the Red Wings. Such a friendly organization. High class people all the way around; ticket office, security peeps, ushers, merch shop, and food vendors. Great family fun, great value.
It's a nice Stadium. There's a big variety of food and beverage concessions. The seats are hard. Bring a cushion to sit on. I've enjoyed a lot of ball games there.
The stadium itself is fine but their security doesn't even deserve 1 star! We were given free tickets from our Lazzara's orthodontist today which they are amazing!!! I highly recommend for children especially with dental anxiety. This security guard, who I believe he said his name is Michael, is a piece of work! There's no need to talk to people the way he did! There are better ways of approaching people than how he did! This "man" is a terrible human being. We spoke to the supervisor. If you have never been to the stadium or haven't been in many years like myself, this "man" will disrespect and belittle you the moment he starts talking. You want strong security but he is pathetic. Security who acts like that is going to protect themselves or this guy would run away. DO BETTER!!!
