My 4 kids have been at this practice for many years and we have been very pleased with Dr. Kern until recently. Three of my kids missed an appointment in one week due to a miscommunication in our shared custody situation. We received a letter informing us we were no longer patients at the practice after missing the appointments. We called and tried to explain our situation and why we missed the appointments and they were incredibly rude and told us there were no exceptions and wouldn't allow us to talk to Dr. Kern or anybody. While I understand the policy, to not allow a second chance for long time patients to explain and possibly make an exception is insane especially considering the amount of business we have had with them and even referred others to them, we also have never missed appointments before this particular situation as a disclaimer, not to mention the rude communication when we tried to explain what had happened. Just found it very unprofessional and not at all understanding of life circumstances. Would no longer recommend this practice.
This office has been such a huge relief ever since our last pediatricians office closed down without notice. They have been so kind and helpful with our transition to the new providers. Dr Bever and Kaitlyn Kinkead have amazing with our kiddos too! Highly recommend
I have been coming here for five years. It was great at the beginning and then slowly had declined. They aren’t listening to symptoms and have missed some critical diagnosis for my daughter. And then now, we are being treated like a number NOT a patient.
We ADORE Katelyn, the Nurse Practitioner! She’s has partnered with us since day one on the care of our infant, even taking the time to do extra research in her own time to understand a unique issue we had. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. We are super happy to have found Gahanna Pediatrics!
Be aware if your young child is scared or nervous, Dr. Heinmiller is not compassionate. When we began seeing him he was amazing. He played guitar, and even sang to our kids when they were nervous. But in the last 2 years his attitude has been harsh and not very kind. My daughter's last visit for her 4 year check up was awful. She cried during her check up and the doctor actually shouted WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? To my 4 year old. Then told her she was NOT to have a sticker or lollipop because she cried... She had just turned 4 and it was her birthday. And to add to this the financial department has become a huge bother. Very unpredictable and just rude. They charge for every little detail.
My son sees Dr. Kern however both doctors are amazing and our interactions with them and the office staff has been nothing short of amazing... especially compared to the stories I hear from my friends who have children going to other local practices. We are lucky to have flexible doctors with great hours who see your child each time they come in... no need to guess which doctor on staff will be seeing them!
Dr. Kern and his staff members are what healthcare should be about. I have been fortunate to have three children in this practice for more than 15 years. My kids have gone through all the regular shots and colds and bumps and bruises, plus some behavioral issues and scary testing moments that left me in knots. Dr. Kern has been there through it all. In these little exam rooms, we feel known and heard and genuinely cared about. Dr. Kern is brilliant, funny, and personable, and I trust him implicitly because I have seen his thoroughness and attention to detail time and again over many years. Another indicator of his care and professionalism is the compassion of his staff. Today, the office manager Kathy and another office associate Stacy went the extra mile to help me with a records issue that wasn't even technically medical in nature. And Barb at the front is endlessly kind. This tells me that Dr. Kern knows how to find the right staff to support him in his practice. To say they are all the best is an enormous understatement. These wonderful folks have been a critical part of my journey in raising my three children. I am grateful beyond words for Dr. Kern and his team.
Dr. Heinmiller is amazing with our kids! I have seen him play guitar and sing to kids who were crying and do anything he can to comfort them. When we have seen Dr. Kern he has been just as amazing! Our kids have been frequent flyers with ear infections and a few minor emergencies and they have always greeted us with a smile and plenty of loving care. The staff and nurses are just as awesome and know every kid by name. Nothing but great experiences!
I took both my kids for their annual and they were both healthy no complaints atall, the doctor talked about his normal heath check and it took like good enough time to wrap up with both kids. And to my surprise i see a bill next week, upon asking the staff mentioned lame reasons. I have notified the management, still waiting from past 2 weeks for a response. I will post the findings as soon as they sort it out. Looks like recently this clinic has started to make money by charging customers for no good reason, i can be wrong if they sort out this bill else i am letting you know this can happen to any one of you:
Dr Kern is amazing and so is Barb, however the office manager Kathy not so much. My children have gone to this office for over 17 years and over the last 2 years the front office service has declined dramatically. They are getting greedy and charging for things not requested or that are in scope of the actual visit, there is now a weekend fee, they tried to charge an additional fee because the deductible wasn’t met, they miscode things to insurance and then claim it’s the insurance company who makes them do it called the insurance company and they don’t tell them how to bill, it’s how the office codes the service then they try to justify the charge with everyone else does it.... gee why dont we all jump off a cliff because everyone does it.... There is a fee for everything. This mentality and unethical billing is why we are moving to a different practice, not because of the service provided by the doctors. We’ll miss Dr Kern! If you change office managers and start billing fairly, give me a call. Anyone who’s experienced the unethical billing, Kathy won’t answer you. File an appeal with the insurance company and s claim with the better business bureau.
