The Gainsboro Branch of the Roanoke City Public Library, also known as the Gainsboro Library, is a historic library building located in the African-American neighborhood of Gainsboro in Northwest Roanoke, Virginia. It was built in 1941-1942, and is a one-story, seven-bay, L-plan Tudor Revival style brick building. The library provided African American residents of Roanoke's segregated Gainsboro neighborhood with a library facility where children and adults could pursue self-education with advice and assistance from competent and dedicated librarians.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It is located in the Gainsboro Historic District.

I've moved thrice now, and this is still my home library. Even when I lived 45 mins away, this was still my whole library. Why? The staff is family.  It's also a historic library, and I recently hosted Raffi Andonian, aka The Celebrity Historian, and he was so impressed with the history & legacy of the library, and how well maintained it was.  I love sneaking away to the little study rooms, because they feel like safe havens. Their multicultural literature is abundant and woefully underrated. Book delivery is prompt & communication is swift & efficient. I'm so happy this location exists

Yes they have alot of movie choices, save your Redbox money. support your local library. Take the children they have alot of books and movies for them too.

Very helpful staff in the library. They helped me print some documents real fast. Due to covid-19 restrictions I had to ring the bell and stand outside but they were very courteous.

I love this small library.  Built earlier for the African American community in Roanoke you can find all types of people at this library. The staff are friendly and greet me by name when I'm there.
