The Generation to Generation program is affiliated with the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. The program is designed to match Holocaust survivors with younger (adult) partners who are interested in learning about the survivors' experiences before, during and after the Holocaust. The younger partners will one day share these stories of survival with future generations through the Speakers’ Bureau of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. The Speakers’ Bureau is a group (currently only consisting of people who have survived the Holocaust) who personally explain their story of survival to groups of visitors who come to the museum.
The Generation to Generation program meets about four times a year as a group—both for socializing and to learn from each other—and the remainder of the year you will meet independently with your partner to learn his or her story, and to get to know him or her on a personal level.
