Dr. Sclater became the owner of Gentle Family Dentistry, LLC in Calvert County, MD in 2008. Our hygienists are Biolase laser certified. We have the ability to preserve tooth structure and deliver permanent crowns in the same day with our CEREC technology. We specialize in the following areas: cosmetics, pediatrics, CEREC, orthodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics, Biolase and Waterlase. Dr. Sclater and Dr. DeLeon offer Botox, filler and Kybella for cosmetic smile enhancement and pain management.

Your team gave us everything we needed including peace of mind, support and comfort, expedited service and X-rays - which we are able to use this morning with an oral surgeon. We cannot thank you enough for your availability, caring and support!
My husband drove 7 hours from home to get to his appointment, made a year previous, and they did not want to do the work that he had made the appointment for. He had sent x-rays from his regular dentist twice since they "couldn't find them" at Gentle Family Dentistry. They had to be coached by his regular dentist on how to get into their received x-rays. No one was apologetic, he was rudely "dismissed". Go there if you like being abused.
The best. Dr. Sclater and staff are outstanding! And I am not an easy grader. Been going for years with my wife and three kids. Always a great experience. Would recommend to anyone heartily!!!
I'm very happy with my decision to take my dental needs to GFD. We moved here 8 years ago and I tried at least 4 other dental practices. None of them made me feel as comfortable as GFD with regards to their expertise, quality control and friendliness. I'm here to stay.
I highly recommend this practice. I need Botox in my jaw because I grind my teeth so much that I break mouthguards. Dr. Sclater has treated me for about a year and the teeth grinding is a fraction of what it used to be. The Botox is a fraction of what other dentists charge and I could not be happier with the outcome! A+
Really not happy about it. I had 4 crowns placed at this practice. 1 molar and 1 premolar on the upper arch, and same on the bottom. The bottom ones are doing ok 1.5y later, but the upper ones are not. They are placed so close to my other teeth it’s almost impossible to floss. I’m with a different dentist now and after having excruciating pain between the crown on my upper molar and the molar next to it, he decided to do an Xray to see what’s going on. Surprise surprise, the crown is placed wrong and there’s a gap under the crown right at the gum line where food gets trapped all the time and this caused my healthy molar to have a cavity now. Extremely poor practice… very dissapointed as it’s only been 1.5y since those crowns were placed. Now I have to pay to replace these again since my insurance won’t cover the same teeth again. Edit: after talking on the phone with Cynthia, I decided to give them 3 stars instead of 1. At the end of the day, the 2/4 crowns are still doing good now, almost 2 years later. It was just the upper 2 that had to be replaced. I really appreciated her reaching out and trying to get to a resolution together.
I love Gentle Dental. Ms. Barbara is the sweetest! The entire staff is amazing.
Cannot get people to sign PCS documents in a timely manner. Edit: Melissa, how is it you can reply to a review faster than you sign the paperwork on your desk? I specifically stated I needed those documents signed TODAY. When I called to follow up, after not receiving them as requested, I was told they were left on your desk to sign. Now, I’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Yet, hours later, you reply to my review? Drive to work and sign the documents. Then email them to me. ‍ Edit2: after talking with Melissa, we landed on the same page and got necessary documents signed.
I highly recommend this dental practice!!! They are so welcoming and so helpful - from the front desk staff to the hygienists and the dentists themselves, it is truly a pleasure to see them every 6 months. I also love how family-friendly they are. I once brought my baby along with me and they were thrilled to help entertain her while I was getting my cleaning. Our whole family - extended included - has switched and everyone is happy. The employees all seem like a cohesive group of friends that are happy to show up to work everyday. It is refreshing! Make an appointment!
The staff and Dr.Sclater are all very friendly and the office is lovely and comfortable, great job, thank you!
