The Center for the Arts is the centerpiece of performing arts on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University.

Description

Since October 1990, when the doors to the Concert Hall opened, the arts in Northern Virginia have not been the same. The Center for the Arts plays a key role in the cultural vitality of the Washington Metropolitan region, attracting more than 100,000 patrons each year to: performances by local artists and ensembles; community events; student and faculty productions; and our own multidisciplinary series—Great Performances at Mason.

There is a paid parking garage right next to this theater, with covered walkways so you can go from you car into the building without an umbrella. There is also plenty of free parking that requires a longer walk, a block or two on a very nice path through the woods by a pond.
This theater has great shows and cultural exhibits. Adjacent parking garage is convenient and $9 for event parking is pretty reasonable. The line can back up pretty quickly though so try to arrive more than 15 minutes before curtain.
Enjoyed a Christmas performance at the George Mason University Center for the Arts. Easy access parking for free with just a little walk beside the pond or paid parking right next to the Art Center. Prices AR really good especially if there's performances you can bring children with. Traffic was minimum.
Saw ShenYun a couple weeks ago at the George Mason Center for the arts. This is the first time I have been here. The auditorium had excellent view and acoustics even though we were sitting in pretty high up in the balcony. We parked in handicapped parking across the bridge in the back to the parking lot, which was a short walk, but a long flight of stairs up and down. We were able to get a pair of headphones for my mom who is hearing impaired, and they worked really well. I would definitely go here again to see more performances.
Fairfax Symphony concert was great. Really nice performance of Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto by George Li. Strings were the best I've heard them in the Elgar Symphony #1.
Great performances... parking can leave a little to be desired though. Actually, the issue is getting out of the parking lot. But I love this venue. However, can anyone explain to me why they serve California wine? We are literally in the East Coast wine producing region and they serve really cheap California wine. Please support local wineries. Slapping Geo. Mason on the label and having it shipped from Cali for a Virginia theater is really a poor reflection on how hard they tried to find wine for the theater.
Great venue with spacious seating for a well appointed theater. Convenient paid parking AND free parking within a few minutes walk. The lobby has toilets only on the orchestra left side. Fun for our entire family.
Went to see the kodo performance and it was amazing! The venue is nice - but there's only one way in and out, and parking is tough - a long dark walk to free parking, or pay for a crowded parking deck right next door.
Wonderful venue to enjoy theater and other unique performances. Love taking my whole family. Especially enjoyed The Nutcracker last December.
We purchased 7 tickets-. 5 together and 2 together. One was a child’s ticket. When arriving people were in our seats. Instead of the usher by the way was vey rude requesting the people that were in our seats to move ; he stated just go and sit down the show is about to start. Now here’s the problem, we paid for seats that we picked out with viewing the show and to be seated together. Please make it make sense. All the usher had to do is ask the other people to move to their correct seats. The child ticket we paid for so the child could sit in is not being used because someone was sitting in her seat and the end result she had to sit in her mother’s lap. Did I mention the show is going on . Needless to say one-of our guest had to sit 2 rows behind us, the child had to sit in her mother’s lap. I had to go to the ticket office to see if they could correct the problem. They issued a refund for the child’s seat rightly so. I missed part of the show dealing with this . Won’t do this again. My grand daughter it was her birthday was very disappointed regarding the seats and so was I!
