I have gone to GH many times the staff is normally good but I did have one bad visit in 2021. The reason for the poor review is the fact they add politics to the lobby! LGBTQ flags should not be in a general medical facility. It’s inappropriate. I’m there for a medical situation not to have a political stance thrown in my face! KEEP POLITICS OUT!!! That type of stuff should be kept between a doctor and the adult patient!
My husband took me to this hospital [[first time]. I was in terrible pain. I waited about 5 minutes before going back. Once in the back, I was treated with the most respect and compassion. Dr. Spewock was very kind and compassionate as well as the nurses They did a ct and diagnosed the problem BUT did NOT tell me everything that the ct showed. Found out by going into my patient portal. I had no problem with the hospital but the doctor SHOULD HAVE told me ALL THE FINDINGS.
My mom was rushed to the ER where she got some of the best, most compassionate care I’ve ever seen. Dr.DeBarge is an Angel and a very fine doctor. The nurses, Mari, Elizabeth and others who unfortunately i don’t remember their names were professional and caring. A big big shoutout to Natalie who was kind enough to keep us informed when mom was admitted. They’re all outstanding!!!
Don’t go here!!!!! They made my 7 year old wait for many hours while she couldn’t control her bowels and was repeatedly vomiting!!!!! They said they didn’t have a room and then took 2 patients that came in after us back to rooms. They also almost killed me saying I had a cyst when I actually had cancer!!!! Very horrible incompetent people at this hospital!!!! Trust me go somewhere else!!!!!!
My loved one was taken to the Gettysburg ER. Although in extreme physical decline, I was ill-equipped to fully understand that end-of-life was near. The attending nurse provided stellar, first rate care and the equipment and room appeared to be very nice and clean. Unfortunately, another nurse whose name I will omit had an extremely unpleasant demeanor. She advised me that only two family members total the identical same two family members only would be permitted to see the patient for the duration of stay. There are understandably policies and procedures that must be adhered to, but why argue about it in front of a cognizant, dying patient? It is inexcusable that such information was relayed with a bad attitude and chip on the shoulder in front of a dying patient. It is just that simple. Just TRY to be nice about it. If you are unable to be genuinely nice, fake it. If unable to do that, locate a more professional colleague who can. My loved one died a few days later.
While my husband and I are waiting in the ED, we over heard a NURSE in ED, say “well I just work here” meaning to, She in fact does not care about her job nor the patients in it.
My father who is has stage 4 cancer was taken here and sat for 5+Hrs and they took everyone ahead of him and when our family approached staff about his level of care and pain they said they where cleaning a room for him. Still never called for him and took other patients. I understand others need care that may be worse but these patients had a broken finger and where way younger. He is very sick and has problems breathe and is a a wheelchair. Then when he decided to just leave they wanted him to sign a form that he denied treatment. No u denied him treatment in our eyes and we will not sign your form to cover your butts. All they had to do was say we are busy it’s gonna be a long wait and we would have found care else where.

Hunter performed an echo on me this morning and she is an asset to this hospital. She is attentive, articulate, and intelligent. She will go far in this world.
I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Unprofessional nurses and doctors. After being on a ventilator for 5 days I was finally strong enough to use the restroom. After finishing up I discovered I had a thermometer stuck in my rectum. That is just the tip of the iceberg honestly. I wouldn't even take my worst enemy there.
