The Girard Fire Department Assisted With A Large Tree That Fell and Destroyed My Mother's Home in The Spring of 2023. Thankfully she was unscathed. The Girard Fire Department arrived and were professional, caring, understanding .. and they knew what they were doing! They informed us of the damage which was a very significant amount, assisted in securing the site and informed us of the agencies that could possibly assist and what to expect etc. We felt in good hands.
Gave our scouts a tour today! Super nice, friendly, great information. Our kids learned a lot about safety and saw what a fireman would sound and look like if they came into the house at night - which is good because now if anything ever happens the fear is gone! I did discover a couple disturbing things about their safety suits.... I understand that they're expensive, but lives of first responders are more valuable than money for uniforms ..... I feel like we need to come up with a way to get taxes to fund, or a fundraiser of some sort, something ... to get them uniforms that are carcinogen free. They save our lives, we need to save theirs.
