I recently visited the Tufts Archives, having driven an hour and a half each way specifically to see both this and another museum in the area. What I saw of the Archives was quite interesting, and I wanted to see the entire collection. The noise level in the Archives, however, was so loud I finally just gave up and left. I realize this is a work area, but throughout my visit, pop music was playing at a level that made it difficult to read and actually take in the text. There were several women talking as well, but I managed to block the noise out for part of the Archives. What was hard to believe was that one of the women-who apparently really enjoys Bruno Mars-actually turned up the volume as I reached the halfway point, making it literally impossible to absorb or enjoy. I happen to like Bruno myself, but I was very surprised and disappointed in the complete lack of respect for someone trying to visit the Archives. Yes, they knew I was there, yes, they saw me leave-clearly, I was interfering with their party. I've visited museums and historic sites around the world, and I can honestly say I've rarely experienced that level of disregard for a visitor. I have no doubt the Archives have a great deal to offer, but I certainly won't waste my time attempting to see them again. Very unprofessional.
The Tufts archives are awesome. I especially came to view the Donald Ross collecton which is very impressive. I recently came across a hickory shaft putter made by Donald's brother Alex who won the 1903 US Open. The Archives attendent was so helpful and was able to print from her computer a couple of pictures of Donald and Alex.
Wonderful little library in downtown Pinehurst! Nice selection of books for a library of that size and the staff is fantastic. So helpful and kind. Terry has helped me choose some great mystery books that kept me occupied for many evenings. There is also a delightful children’s room with toys, puzzles and books. Something for everyone. And everyone gets a library card who wants it. Can't go wrong here!
Wonderful library in the middle of the Village. Has been a wonderful resource during Covid for library cardholders. You don't have to live in the area to get a card since the library is private. I have enjoyed being able to access all of the content on E-inc Library while things have been closed down.
Great place to visit to view the golfing memorabilia and Pinehurst history. Also the library is very pleasant and relaxing.
Good small town library and has plans to expand and grow with the area. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful
