Glaus Bakery has been in business since 1935 making it one of the oldest bakeries in Utah! Owned by Robert & Paul Heaps for 40 years now, they still are very particular about their ingredients and quality of their product and take great pride in everything they make!
Did you know that we still make all of our buttercream icing, cake, brownies, fudge, cookie, bread, danish, turnovers and so much more from scratch? We do!

We've gotten a few yummy things from here lately for my son's birthday. Their princess cakes are divine marzipan coating, we added the decorations in the photo, so we ordered a little one to celebrate our little guy and even though it was small, they decorated it beautifully for him. Also got a chocolate rum cake later on and some danishes, and those were also delicious. The staff here are cheery and very helpful. This bakery is a great find!
Had them featured at our wedding dessert bar. Everything was so so beautiful and delicious. The eclairs were a favorite for sure!
This bakery is a part of our family's traditions. The rum cakes they make, my husband and his sister grew up having for their birthdays each year. When we got married, we continued that tradition with our own family. We moved to Iowa and truly miss visiting Glaus! They make the most delicious things!
I have had a Glaus chocolate rum torte cake with pineapple filling every year for my birthday since I was 1 year-old. I am now 58 years-old, and I still enjoy and look forward to this special cake every year. It has definitely become the highlight of my birthday celebration. Now all my children want this same cake for their birthdays, and it has become a favorite birthday tradition for our family. Of course, the rum torte cake is not the only favorite we have from Glaus. We love the Napoleons, Petit fours, and Ginger bread men. Whether it be cookies, pies, breads...you name it...it is all wonderful!
This has been my family's favorite place for cakes, eclairs, and cookies for three generations. My Grandma and I pop in here for a small piece of cake whenever we have a sweet tooth, and birthdays just aren't the same without their Chocolate Rum Cake with Pineapple filling. I highly recommend this to anyone. Cakes- The Chocolate Rum is our favorite, but they also have a white cake with raspberry filling and a german chocolate one that are pretty dang amazing as well. Oh, and every so often they have a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting that is scrumptious. Eclairs- Their eclairs are light, sweet, and filling. I always have to watch my grandma like a hawk or else she will order their giant one instead of the regular sized one. Both of which are excellent but the big one is huge! Cookies- They have a good mix of classic and unique cookies here. My favorites are the sugar cookies with little buttons of chocolate on top.
I wish I could give more stars! My mom growing up would get her birthday cakes from Glaus and while my sister and I were growing up all of our cakes came from Glaus and now our children's cakes come from Glaus. We find reasons to order cakes throughout the year as well. The chocolate rum cake is Amazing!!! We sometimes do the pineapple in the middle and sometimes we do the raspberry. If you want a cake to stay moist without drying out I suggest doing the pineapple either way you will not be disappointed. If you get a chance try their rolls they are amazing as well!
Best bakery in town. The butter cream frosting is to die for. The staff is happy, energetic and always friendly. I love Glaus baked goods because they are not overdone. You know, how everything always has to be so double this and triple layered that over the top, cherry on top... I love the decades old recipies that never change but always leave me wanting more. Simple, pure and very sweet! Thank you Glaus!
So bummed. Chocolate pineapple rum was a family favorite for over 50 years. Bought one today with high anticipation- but it isn’t the same. Sadly, the cake part had a strange texture dense and almost spongy and frosting roses and trim were much smaller. I called and they said that the old owners used a box cake mix and they were using a from scratch recipe. I guess I’m accustom to the original box cake recipe. My love affair with Glaus is over
Don't go anywhere else, EVER. Glaus has been my family's go to family since my dad was a kid! We consider them family at this point. Their most recent accomplishment was my wedding cake just a few weeks ago, and holy COW. It was delicious and beautiful and we got the best price you can get in the valley. Glaus Bakery truly is the hidden gem of Salt Lake City.
It pains me to leave a review like this. I have been coming to this bakery since I was a child. On every birthday, all I wanted was a Glaus Cake. My favorite is the triple chocolate, with the rum coming in a close second. I went in about a month ago. It was a Monday which is usually a day they are closed. The shelves were quite empty. The cakes looked completely different. Everything was WAY off. I asked the clerk what was going on and why the cakes looked so different and if there was new management. She said no, they were just trying new styles but the cakes were the same. The cakes are not at all the same! I started researching and it looks as the business was sold. Ok so there are new owners. Why wouldn’t you use the recipes that made the business so successfu throughout the decades? It sounds silly, but I’m a little heartbroken I will never have a Glaus cake again. A friend of mine brought me a triple chocolate cake last night and said, I brought your favorite cake. I was disappointed. The new cakes aren’t horrible, but they are not the amazingly consistent, delicious cakes I’ve become accustomed to. I am also irritated that when I asked I wasn’t told that there were new owners. They did have some fancy other items that Glaus never had. Maybe those things are amazing, but if you are thinking you are getting a cake from your favorite old bakery, think again.
