The Museum exists to preserve the history, archives and artifacts of Maryland’s aviation and aerospace contributions, and to provide, to a diverse range of visitors, educational and entertaining exhibits and programs designed to inspire and uplift the mind, imagination, and spirit.
With operating support of Museum membership, the Citizens of Baltimore County, Lockheed Martin, the Drescher Foundation, and Northup Grumman, the Museum offers tours, education programs for schools, also special events including:
Open Cockpit Days
On the second Saturdays of April through August, visitors can climb into pilot seats of Museum airplanes, board the Martin 404 passenger airliner and have a close encounter with an A10. This takes place at the Museum's location at Martin State Airport.
Aviation Speaker Series
The Museum conducts a free Speaker Program April to November open to anyone interested in aviation and space. Entertaining and informative, illustrated talks are given by prominent speakers on a wide range of interesting subjects. Each talk is followed by a social break with refreshments and then a segment covering museum and general interest topics, often including current events and a short video or slide presentation.
All speaker programs are in the Lockheed Martin auditorium at 2323 Eastern Boulevard, Middle River, Maryland. Programs begin at 7:00PM and generally last until 9:30PM on the first Monday of each month, unless delayed a week by a holiday. A photo ID is required of all attendees, and children must be escorted by an adult with a photo ID.
