We identify opportunities for US leadership in advancing global food security and nutrition and alleviating poverty through agricultural development.
The Chicago Council on Global Affairs works to identify opportunities for US leadership in advancing global food security and nutrition and alleviating poverty through agricultural development.
The Council has convened business, policy, scientific, and civil society leaders for task forces examining US farm policy; the nexus between nutrition, health, and the food system; the impact of climate change on food production; the role of research and technology; and food system transformations necessary to feed an urbanizing world.
The Chicago Council on Global Affairs' Global Food and Agriculture Program is led by co-chairs Doug Bereuter, President Emeritus at Asia Foundation, and Dan Glickman, former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and supported by an advisory group of distinguished development, agriculture, and gender experts from government, civic, NGO, business, and academic leadership circles.
The Chicago Council on Global Affairs' Global Food and Agriculture Program seeks to work closely with other organizations doing critical and complementary work on issues related to agricultural development and food security. The project pays particular attention to the critical of role small holder farmers, women, and girls in the agriculture and food sectors of Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
