I initially tried Gluten Escape when they first opened and I worked in the area. I was neither vegan nor gluten-free, so when I found my baked goods to be dry and flavorless, I assumed it was because I had never tried vegan or gluten-free treats before. Fast forward to today, and I’ve been vegan for over a year, and have tried many delicious vegan and gf baked goods. Given the rave reviews, I decided to give them a second chance. While the gentleman who helped us was friendly, knowledgeable, and personable, I found myself disappointed with the overpriced goodies I purchased. The red velvet cupcake didn’t taste like red velvet at all, and although the vanilla was better, they both lacked an overall sweetness and moistness that I expect in a quality and highly priced baked good. The cookies were better and had less of a grainy texture, but still not up to par with others I’ve tried. The sugar cookie had a nice shortbread consistency, but still lacked sweetness. The ginger snap cookie was the only thing I truly liked. Overall, most of what I purchased was overpriced, bland, and left a strange taste and texture in my mouth. I hate to give a negative review to a bakery catered to such uncommon dietary needs, especially since the customer service was exceptional. However, I’m disappointed to have wasted my money on subpar treats, when I know gf and vegan baked goods can be done well. I would highly suggest Make Believe Bakery instead.
I've been here twice and have loved everything! The breakfast Sandwich is delicious with a vegan option of JustEgg can get traditional eggs as well. Mine was on an everything bagel and it was sooo good! I haven't had a homemade bagel in years and this one delivered on both texture and flavor. I have tried both the vanilla and shamrock shake cupcakes. The vanilla was very classic and tasty, and I was honestly shocked at how much I loved the shamrock cupcake, which I believe is a temporary flavor. I got the shamrock one because it seemed unique but I didn't even expect it to be as delicious as it was! I even came back the next day for another They have some cookie options, like the double Chocolate one in my picture, as well as sugar cookies and chocolate chip. I think the baked good options vary from week to week. You can see my BF was secretly nibbling on the cinnamon bar before I could get the picture and I didn't even get a picture of the delicious brownie because it was gone in about 3 seconds. I'm glad I found this place with vegan goodies, and will keep coming back!
What a wonderful surprise when visiting Denver. I was impressed with their options and ingredients. Had the best gluten free bagel I’ve had in 17 years from The Gluten Escape. Thank you for offer such delicious baked goods and grocery type products. You have made my travels much exciting.
In a word, heaven. First off, the whole place is 100% gluten-free. They've got loads of delicious baked goods as well as a small selection of gluten-free grocery items. The bagel sandwich I had was delicious!
I wanted my son to have a nice birthday cake for his 16th birthday so I was willing to pay more but I cannot believe how small and plain this cake is. They even charged an extra $5 to write “Seth 16” in very basic writing, I could’ve written it. I sent them a pic of what I wanted the cake to look like and it’s not even close. It looks like a bad Instagram fail and I paid $50 for it. I’m highly disappointed. Edit- I took the cake back to get fixed but the decorator wasn’t in so they gave me a full refund instead which I appreciated. I just have to figure out how to fix this on my own now.
Amazing gluten free treats!! I hadn't eaten sourdough bread since being diagnosed forever ago with celiacs disease..they had it and I couldn't be more excited!! That mocha cupcake...speechless!! It was so delicious!! Also, he was so beyond kind to my husband who had just gotten back from iraq that morning. We left there so happy and just touched by the kindness. Thank you for restoring hope in humanity and also for the treats!!!!!!
The pineapple upside down cake is literally the most heavenly thing on Earth. Thank goodness for Gluten Escape!
I went to Gluten Free Escape this morning to see what they had. I bought a bagel and had it toasted. This is the closest thing that I've ever had to the bagels from the bakery I love in Long Island. It was crispy on the outside and very soft in the inside. It's been years since I've had a quality bagel I also bought an olive load, pretzel rolls, and garlic knots. I haven't tried any of those items yet, but if they are anywhere as delicious as the bagel was, I'll be a really happy girl!
I was worried as I have a bunch of nut allergies as well as gluten but they also avoid nuts too! The fudge is absolutely amazing and the sugar cookie was pretty good too! I highly recommend stopping in and buying all their fudge. I'll definitely be back.
Good food! All gluten-free. Pricey, tho.
