Gold's Gym

I've been to several gyms but this one here is by far the cleanest I've been to. I see bad reviews on here properly when it was gold's gym, though I haven't had any experience while it was underneath that branding Legacy has been great! I had concerns about the contract and beginning and I made my concerns well known and they showed me in the contract have those could be settled. All of the staff has been honest and upfront along with being friendly. Had a machine squeak in the middle of the workout and an employee immediately came with WD-40 to stop it from squeaking and fixed the problem. Could not ask for better staff than that! If you are planning on joining the gym, begin your legacy at Legacy!

Wish I lived here because this gym was really great. One of the extensive hammer strength machine selections I have ever seen. Great locker room, clean place, friendly front desk. Clearly a former Golds Gym, but their loss was Legacy’s gain. Love that if you’re a member, it looks like 24/7 access. Day pass was an easy $10.

Ha, they treat their employees like crap… everyone who was there when I started going there when it was Gold’s have all left. I have heard it has become run down… very sad state of affairs!!!! Nice gym,wonderful staff and personal trainers. It features well kept equipment, extras include sauna,tanning, smoothie bar and supplement sales. Although more pricey than other gyms in the area but well worth it..

This is a nice gym with a staff that is willing to help you out if you're a beginner. I was impressed with the cleanliness and the sauna in the bathroom. I love that it's 24 hours. I do prefer a local gym but I did like this Gold's. I ended my membership because it was on the other side of town and I found a gym that was closer. My other complaint was that this gym is expensive for this area. I was able to grab a membership for $40 a month over the summer but was told if I wanted to extend my membership that my monthly rate would be higher. I go to a gym now of a similar caliber and pay less than I would have.

This place has continued to charge me, months after canceling my membership and getting email confirmation that my membership had been cancelled and that my last payment was done. I would stay away if you're a student who will eventually relocate out of cdale, they will not actually cancel the membership.

Excellent Gym. It has great hours, available when you need it, even childcare. Recently, the staff has been friendly and helpful. The personal training is especially helpful, although it is an extra fee. Careful, though. Consider whether or not you have a life schedule that allows you to use the gym in such a manner. If you have a life where circumstances can change drastically and cause you to be unable to use the gym, you CANNOT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP. I mean, you are locked in forever. The only way out is to die, become disabled or relocate away from another Gold's Gym. Also, read your contract carefully, because they can charge you even after your contract is over. They will not assist in helping you navigate these circumstances, either. If it is the best decision for you to join, you will enjoy it. If you have a pause, definitely try another option instead of joining.

The Gold’s Gym in Carbondale may try to lock you in a contract after it’s expired and may make it hard to cancel even after your year is up. Make sure you get it in writing that you’re canceling your membership otherwise they may continue to charge your bank account and claim they had a “mistake” on their end. Many people still owe money until they contest it with their bank, and Gold’s may gaslight you to make you feel like you did something wrong. I know of at least 10 people it has happened to. Always trust your gut. Don’t let a business, or person, bully or intimidate you. I recommend the SIU Rec Center or Planet Fitness. I am speaking from my own experience, use your own judgment to make decisions on who you give your business to.

Always clean, always friendly staff. Not often too crowded like others in the area. Mostly see an older crowd here and serious fitness minded. Definitely worth the higher cost of membership.
