When you enter Golden Gate, it's a calming place. The staff cares about everyone! I rate it in all areas a 10. compared to other nursing homes.
So far so good! The Staff, Nurses, Aids, and Front Desk personnel are very nice. Occupational and Physical Therapy staff are great...They are working with my mom daily to exercise and get her back walking. The center has daily activities for patients. They return my calls promptly. I have no complaints. I would recommend Golden Gate Rehab Center.
Covid protocols very much enforced. It shows they are still following guidelines to ensure the patients are safer.
My father-in-law arrived in January problem after problem. I know they are short staffed due to COVID-19 but the have to replace the people who left. Dad has had problems such as them loosing all of his clothes a little at a time, not making sure the water pitcher is filled, urine bottles emptied, shower not given, not coming to help him to the bathroom. It takes a long time for the aids to answer the call bell causing him to soil himself. The floors and bathrooms are not cleaned but once a day leaving a mess in there all day. Calling the social workers and they don’t return calls. Can’t get the doctor to call, can’t ever get the nursing station for the floor to answer the phones. Aside from therapy 7 days a week they don’t bother to get the patients to the recreation room so they are in bed all the time.
My mother has been in and out of hospitals many times over the last few months. Often, it is very difficult to get the attention of a nurse to check on her when something seems off, and it is very frustrating. Yesterday she arrived in Golden Gate. When I came to visit last night I had concerns and right away the nurse Tina stopped what she was doing to check it out, listened to my concerns, and addressed them. Then, when I suggested something that required the attention of the nurse manager, she got Wendy on the phone, who contacted the on-call NP and quickly got an answer, and came up with a good management plan. When I left for the night, I felt like she was in good caring hands!
My mother-in-law was there for over 30 days. She rapidly declined mentally! She had a stroke and was in this facility for physical rehabilitation. The 1st thing noticed is the stench of urine in the hallways. Absolutely no communication with the staff whatsoever. Every single day our family would call to speak either with a nurse, social worker, rehab department, etc. Not ONE time did someone actually pick up the phone! Always had to leave several messages and wait for a return call. My mother-in-law would be asked if she wanted to do her physical therapy, if she said “no,” they would just walk away. There is no encouragement at all. She would be left in a “day room” for up to 5 hours at a time. The day room is where the patients are supposed to socialize with one another. How can they socialize with a television on full blast that you can’t hear yourself think and the patients are seated at separate tables! The facilities excuse is “Covid Restrictions!” Yet, the patients are in their rooms together???? When we transferred my mother-in-law to a different rehab, Golden Gate set up the transport. HOWEVER, they set up the wrong transportation a transport company that doesn’t serve S.I.! So, she ended up staying another night with all of her belongings packed up in plastic bags left in the hallway. Please do NOT send any loved ones to this facility!!!!
My mother was here for a while for rehab. My experience here is only positive. First, any issues she had were resolved promptly. Her therapist pushed her so that she should get as much mobility as possible in her knee. Although it was during covid, I was able to set up appointments and see her. She stayed in her own room and was able to rest undisturbed! Both she and my family were very grateful for being there and getting all her needs met. The staff and nurses were all great and available when she needed them. I highly recommend this facility if you care about your relative. They also had meetings regularly about her with the social workers and health staff to make sure she's was making progress. I was very impressed by this place!
Everyone I dealt with was friendly, professional, and courteous. All of my questions were answered and all of my concerns were addressed immediately. The facility was spotless
My father-in-law just arrived here at Golden gate a few days ago and I have to tell you how impressed I am . The place is very clean as well and making sure COVID restrictions are in place . From the receptionist to everyone there is just amazing . Thank you to Krista who helped us getting to see him . I’m so glad my husband and his siblings chose this place . Thank you to Eileen the asst director nurse very professional and warm , to Eileen the respiratory person to Diane , Theresa , and Mazz on the second floor forgive me for not knowing their correct titles I’ll just say they are Angels . Bless all of your hearts . our father means everything to us .
Recently, a family member of mine needed short term rehab and we're really glad we chose Golden Gate. They provided excellent therapy every day of the week including weekends by experienced and caring professionals. They also arranged for bedside dialysis in the patient’s private room, which was nice and clean. I would highly recommend Golden Gate for anyone in need of short term rehab.
