I wouldn't call this authentic Japanese food but it is decent Japanese food. I got a ramen that had fish broth with noodles that tasted like maruchan. That part was not good but the fried chicken was great.
Our server, Jada, made sure our visit was wonderful. They were super kind and made great suggestions. The food here make you feel at home. Would definitely recommend their specials and udon. There's parking in the back for your convenience.
One of my go to dinner spots for a casual nice meal. The atmosphere is Denny's like but the food makes up for it. Over the years the prices have gone from a steal to just fair but I still love the place. The service is very good and they have a large specials board to save a few bucks. I almost always order the Teriyaki steak and tuna sashimi. Service is good and this is a good place for family dining provided you kids are happy with Japanese food and chopsticks. I've never seen anyone ask for a fork at this place.
The Spicy Tuna roll & Seafood tofu hot pot are excellent!! Good regular menu but be sure to check specials on the right when you walk in. Very busy from 7pm on so park on the street. Good beer & sake too.
Excellent service, supreme atmosphere very warm and lively and not to loud while also providing a homey feel so to speak. The food was excellent, I ordered the oyakadon and the chefs totally nailed it! Coming here for a nice dinner is the perfect plans for anyone while also having tasty food!
As the words on their package of chopsticks, appreciation and reflection, they treat customers this way. Thought they literally have only one lady as their waitress, she always handles customers with smile and grace. Lunch special allows you to taste various dishes in one order. The hot tea they provide for free is beyond expectation and makes me feel like as I was in Japan.
Good curry is hard to find. Good curry made without pork dietary restrictions is even harder to find. They nailed it. Authentic, delicious, and absolutely worth it. By the way, they take credit now, so it's even easier to get good food.
I love their broiled mackerel it's thick, juicy, with super yummy pickled squash. Beer is very expensive though. The server was a great sport, it was one guy for like 20 customers!
One of my favorite restaurants - when we lived in Menlo Park my husband and I ate there often. The food is terrific and the prices are very reasonable, particularly for that area. When we moved to San Jose we discovered the Gombei in Japantown which is smaller but just as terrific.
This place is amazing. Their specials are extremely unique this was the only place I've ever had boiled calamari and their price hovers around $10. I usually come here after a hard fought game of soccer in Palo Alto and Gombei fills me up!
