Just went to drop off some donations—nowhere on Google does it say this place stops accepting donations at 5. I carted over my items I didn’t have a lot and then saw the sign saying they weren’t accepting after 5, so I started bringing my items back to my car when I hear a tap on the window. An employee inside the store their regular store was still open; I came a little after 5 SHOOK HER FINGER AT ME and told me not to leave my items outside. This was literally as I was gathering them to take back to my car. I will not be donating here or patronizing this place. Appallingly rude behavior, especially given the fact that is a charity shop. Also, she could have just accepted them—I didn’t have a ton and it wasn’t that long after 5. Unreal. I’ve never seen a worse goodwill store.
I stop by Goodwill at least 2x a week especially on Tuesdays senior discount Carrie is awesome very approachable and so friendly love her!! Larry is friendly and awesome as well . I’ve noticed the prices have gone up and in this economy we are in ,doesn’t make any sense .. we shop used because it’s what we can afford so keep that in mind when pricing … Forgot Emily she’s a hard worker and I enjoy talking to her… she can chit chat and do her job at the same time….
I always recommend the goodwill store when friends have donations. The staff are always helpful. I forget her name but I send my friends to the taller, dark haired woman. She has been very nice and helpful to me on several occasions. Keep up the good work. I'll be back.
Your “manager”, Sue? Should probably not be around people. She is miserable. Sounds annoyed when you ask her a question, rolled her eyes at me when I asked if one company donated all the wedding dresses or if they were individually donated. Like my jaw was on the floor I couldn’t believe a manager had the audacity to treat customers that way. I have been donating and shopping here for years and had multiple negative interactions with her - there are some great employees but I cannot believe she is the manager. Today I found a dress on the ground and asked her to get a price for me. It was Lily Pulitzer so it was going to be specially priced but I said I would wait. She said no, rolled the dress in a ball and threw it on a pile of junk behind the registers. I am so frustrated that someone like that is in a managerial position for an organization such as Goodwill. EDITING TO ADD: It seems all of the negative reviews are relating to this specific individual. The “owner” is replying to each comment but doesn’t seem to do anything about her. Either they don’t care, or it’s not the owner responding, it’s Sue
I’ll never donate items to this particular Goodwill. Ever. The woman who works the donation room should not be allowed to work with people anymore. She is so nasty & rude and seems so annoyed & bothered that people are donating items. How about a pleasant “Hi! Welcome to Goodwill”, etc? No, not at this store. Many bad reviews mention this woman describing their terrible experiences with her, yet management doesn’t seem to care because she’s obviously still there & still being rude. Too many other places that will happily accept my items.
Horrible drop off experience. I ended up leaving the store with half a car still full of items. The gentleman with short curly grey hair that was “accepting” drop offs should be let go immediately. He blatantly lied about multiple things, and told me a supervisor had just been on the floor when I was dropping off despite the fact that they have large glass windows and I could clearly see he was the only one in the lobby. The reason I left… One garden tool was dirty so multiple bins of donations were refused. This gentleman also just watched as I tried to open the door holding a bin of glass items; ultimately, the door knocked a piece out of the box since I could t open it on my own, and filled my sandals with glass.
I came into the goodwill yesterday after doing research on where and what to donate I was greeted a wonderful tall dark haired woman in the donations center, she was very helpful in navigating and assisting me through donation process she was pleasant, kind and very grateful for my contribution, she made me feel really good about how my donations support goodwills mission to help people, if I could give more then 5 stars I would, I hope she is there the next time I donate I look forward to chatting with her again
Nice store. Friendly staff. Only drawback was we needed to check out quickly and the cashier was very chatty. Most days this would have been fine, but today we needed things to be a bit speedier
Drop off center is So rude!!!! Every time!!! Every... single... time. I brought a brand new rug that didn't go with current decor. I stopped to talk to someone in the parking lot. The woman from the donation center came out with the new rug and threw it on the ground by my car. I asked her what the issue was and she told me to read the sign on the door. So I did I said no we're on hair does it say you don't except rugs. She told me they didn't have the room to take my TRASH. I said this rug is not trash it's brand new. A person in the parking lot thought the whole situation was so absurd they took the rug. I'm not asking for a thank you although it would be nice just not a problem every time I go: they clearly hate working there
FIVE STARS FOR MARISSA! ZERO STARS for the older woman who usually works donation receiving area. I was going to write a lengthy review about how much I dislike this place…until yesterday. For the past month I’ve been driving my donations an extra 20 minutes round trip to the West Yarmouth Salvation Army instead so I could avoid the awful woman in donation receiving everyone else has reviewed. Unfortunately, yesterday, I was informed Salvation Army didn’t take throw pillows or anything stuffed of any kind, and I knew Goodwill did so I was forced to drive over there and donate the pillows. The older curmudgeon woman was typically so rude to me that I would nearly panic before going in wondering how mean she was going to be to me for zero reason when I’m trying to drop off VERY nice things to this location. I always asked “Hi how are you?” “Have a nice day” etc. She only ever addressed me after ignoring any of my attempted pleasantries by nearly yelling at me. I still always remained kind because I won’t let people like that change who I am. Thankfully, MARISSA was working the donations yesterday and she was a breath of fresh air. She is a young woman with dark hair and blonde highlights so you can identify this lovely soul. She was occupied doing her duties but still friendly and responsive. I went back today to donate a few more things from my house purge. If Marissa was there, I would donate to Goodwill. If not, I would donate to Salvation Army. She was there! She was friendly again, and I told her thanks again. She deserves recognition and a raise because you’re actually getting revenue based on WHO IS IN THE RECEIVING ROOM in my case and many others according to these reviews. If you don’t like that woman on duty, I urge you to drive over to the lovely gentleman, Don and Bob, who work donations at Salvation Army. But if Marissa is on duty, drop off your items with confidence knowing there are still very nice people who work at this location. There was a gentleman working with her today, too, and he was also very nice. If I go back and realize that woman no longer works there, I will be increasing my stars on this review. Thank you, Marissa!
