Pleasantly surprised. Room was clean. View was stunning. Motel comfortable. Pillows need replacement, lumpy. It’s January, so the restaurant had limited hours, but the family style food was good. The workers at the hotel and restaurant are really nice. Enjoyed the cute dogs in the area. They belong to people who live nearby.
Wonderful room, they accepted our two small dogs without excessive deposit. The room was large and lovely and CLEAN!!!! Excellent food at the restaurant on site, the museum is lovely and well done, don't forget to leave a nice tip!! They have a few "movie props" to be able to take a picture or two. The scenery is breathtaking. Our tour guide, Billy, was so informative and helpful!!! The gift shop was lovely with lots of different things to choose from. I couldn't believe how fast our time went, after 2 days and nights, sad to leave. I would highly recommend and definitely think about going to again!!! 10 stars even though 5 was the highest! Really excellent place to stay!!!!!
We stayed in this accommodation for one night. Unfortunately we didn't like the accommodation at all. The rooms were small, dark, dirty and smelly. There was a dead cockroach in our room. The interior is very old fashioned. The pool is very small. The parking spaces are directly in front of the rooms. We liked that. I can't understand how the hotel is rated so well but I don't have fond memories of that night. The air conditioning was about as loud as a jet taking off next to you. You couldn't sleep with air conditioning because it was extremely loud and you couldn't sleep without it because it was too hot.
This is a Navajo Tribal hotel and has a restaurant and gift shop nearby. We stayed in the typical rooms. It has a small indoor pool that is not heated but there are plenty of towels. The rooms are fairly clean and a little dated but not too bad. I wish the cleanliness would have been a little better I accidentally dropped a bar of wet soap on the floor and I picked it up with lots of hairs attached to it. Lots and lots of good hot water. No room service as usual in many other places as companies try to cut costs but keep their prices the same or higher. Each room has a beautiful view of Monument Valley. A gas station and small grocery store is also nearby. Next time, one night is enough as two nights is overkill.
Our stay was fantastic. We stayed in one of the apartments down the road from the lodge. Crew at the check in did a great job of giving us all we need know. Now we booked the 8 hr Goulding tour for the next day and was fantastic. Our native guide and driver was Henry. He was very informative about the sites we visited many more than if you driving your selfand also stories and information about his culture. The equipment is very and lunch that is included was very good. Will do it again. FYI. If sand and dust bothers you bring a good dust mask. Sand on the back roads is very fine.
This place is fantastic. If you're thinking about visiting Monument Valley, this is the place to stay! The rooms are clean and comfy with amazing views. The staff on site are friendly and have personality. The food at the restaurant is great and I already miss the Fried Bread. I can't wait to go back!Rooms: 5/5
Such a cool place to stay. It offers a free Trading Post Museum and there’s a gift shop on the property. The view facing the valley is honestly spectacular, especially during sunrise. We didn’t get to experience the area as much as we’d like because it was soooo cold, but it was amazing all the same. If you have a chance you need to visit. The rooms aren’t a 5 star hotel, but we were there to sleep and explore and the experience itself is worth it.
I didn't stay here but we attended a dinner event here as part of a tour group. Unfortunately, due to weather, our outdoor dinner was moved indoors, which would have been fine if the food and service had been up to par. No staff served our group beyond those at the buffet line . No one came out to welcome us or to explain that the entertainer couldn't come due to the weather. Our tour director had to get orders for our entree choices and how those who wanted steak wanted it prepared. No one offered us drinks and we didn't know until we went through the buffet line that there was a drink station behind a wall, not viewable from where we were seated, and that turned out to be self serve. When we got our food, about a dozen people in our group had ordered grilled vegetables over rice. However, there was only rice, no grilled vegetables. For those with steak, all the steak was made the same, no levels of doneness, even though they called out when it was ready by levels. Several of the drinks at the drink station weren't working. Fortunately, the view was great and we saw two double rainbows, so Mother Nature saved the evening.
BEWARE....We stayed with Gouldings Lodge on Dec 22 and Dec 23. The following day was highly disappointing. My wife brushed by a chair in the room, not knowing it had a sharp metal protruding from the right side arm. She is suffering from a 4-inch laceration on her right leg. We notified the cleaning staff to replace the chair which they did and reported this to the Front Receptionist Jasmine, showing her the blood stain on my wife's sweatpants. The blood stain was about the size of a baseball. She suggested going to the clinic, which was closed. We finally found some first aid supplies at the local market. At close out, I expressed my concerns again to Jasmine. She asked me if I wanted to talk with the manager. I explained we needed to go and to have the manager call on Dec 26th. No calls... It would appear there are no safety protocols for guests experiencing medical injuries due to the Lodge's Negligence. I have pictures of the dangerous chair and laceration on the leg. Other than having this traumatic experience, our trip was excellent. We are hoping her leg will heal... Disappointed
Filthy room. Food and dirt all over the carpet. Old candy and cake under the bed. Bathroom not clean and strings that looked like used floss in the bathtub. We slept with the lights on as we expected roaches to come out at night, considering how dirty it was. Rude restaurant service. I expected a lot more for $200 a night. If it all possible, I highly recommend you stop to see monument valley, drive on, and not spend the night here. We certainly wish we had driven another 2 hours to Flagstaff rather than spend the night here, even though we had already driven 4 hours that day.
