Since 1931 when GSE was established, over 18,000 students have graduated and moved on to successful careers as university presidents and administrators, principals, superintendents, psychologists, counselors, information specialists, librarians, teachers, faculty and outstanding researchers. Our core purpose in GSE is to "...inform and prepare a profession to positively shape human development, education, and the information environment in local, national, and global contexts." (Future Directions—GSE, May 2007) Knowledge is increasing today at a rate never seen before in our history. Because of our research, GSE’s curriculum and programs stay ahead of the curve, making our graduates well prepared to meet 21st century challenges.
GSE houses four departments: Counseling, School and Educational Psychology (CSEP); Educational Leadership and Policy (ELP); Learning and Instruction (LAI); and Library and Information Studies (LIS). Our award-winning faculty are engaged in groundbreaking research in a wide range of educational issues.
