The University at Buffalo's Graduate School of Education (GSE) is ranked in the top 19% of education schools and ranked No. 10 for online master's programs in education, by U.S. News & World Report.

Since 1931 when GSE was established, over 18,000 students have graduated and moved on to successful careers as university presidents and administrators, principals, superintendents, psychologists, counselors, information specialists, librarians, teachers, faculty and outstanding researchers. Our alumni are found in their professions literally all over the world.

Our core purpose in GSE is to "...inform and prepare a profession to positively shape human development, education, and the information environment in local, national, and global contexts." (Future Directions—GSE, May 2007) Knowledge is increasing today at a rate never seen before in our history. Because of our research, GSE’s curriculum and programs stay ahead of the curve, making our graduates well prepared to meet 21st century challenges.

GSE houses four departments: Counseling, School and Educational Psychology (CSEP); Educational Leadership and Policy (ELP); Learning and Instruction (LAI); and Library and Information Studies (LIS). Our award-winning faculty are engaged in groundbreaking research in a wide range of educational issues. As a student, you will be part of an intellectual community that is vibrant and challenging, a place where research and practice come together to meet the highest standards.

At GSE, you will be part of one of the best public universities in the northeastern United States. We are a diverse campus with the 12th largest international student body. Ranked as one of the "most wired" campuses in the United States, UB provides access to extensive computing technology such as campus-wide wireless access, online library and student services, free email and internet access, hardware and software support, workshops, public computing labs, and 24/7 technical support.
