My husband and I used Grand Harbor to book the room block for our wedding. Initially getting ahold of them and working with them to get the room block set was very easy. My husband got everything in order, and was told the contract would be emailed the next day once they were able to finalize everything. The next day we did not receive an email. We didn't worry and decided to give it until the end of the week. When we didn't have it we decided to call the following Monday. My husband left a message, and never got a call back. He continued to call multiple times during the coming 6 weeks, and still did not get a response. We went in person to ask about the contract. The woman we talked to was rude, and cut us off multiple times while we were talking. We were told the woman we needed to talk to would be in at 2 the next day and would call us back. Around 4 that day my fiance called back, left a message and never got a call back. I had vented to my aunt about my frustrations, and she offered to call. It took her a total of 3 days to get a response, work out the specifics of the block, finalize the contract, and receive it in her email. She was told Grand Harbor was unable to send the contract to either of our emails. They did have our phone numbers, and never contacted either of us to relay this information. When we returned our contract and guests were able to book a room my mom called to book hers. She was given a total cost that was $10 more than our rate in the contract. I called them to ask about the price and make sure we had the correct info to tell our guests, and I also planned to book our room at this time also. I felt the woman I talked to at this point was rude also. After asking about the price of the room block and not getting an answer which I understand is not necessarily her fault as all rooms were in the block at $10 more than the agreed upon price she hung up on me without asking if she could help with anything else or saying goodbye. I then reached out to them on their website about the service I had received up to this point. Their website said someone would contact me within 2 business days, which never happened. They must have received the email though, because the prices on the rooms changed to reflect the contracted price. As for the actual stay, it went great. The guy who checked us in was incredibly polite and accommodating. The rooms were clean and the perfect amount of space.
Rooms need updating, but the location is prime for the conference center. The staff was very nice, the hotel is also clean. The water park area was closed the days we were there. I think it's open more towards the weekend. The area is quiet and in close location to a casino and the aquarium. The parking lot is very large, and the views are beautiful when facing the mississippi. It's far enough from the highway, so I never heard cars.
Room had bugs in it. Hotel needs updating, way overpriced for quality of hotel. The water park area is fine. There is mold, doors that don't work and sticky floors. I checked in and was greeted by bugs, I immediately went back to the front desk and they allowed me to check out, without charging me. I would not stay here unless they renovated and as much as they charge.......
Nice place but probably won't be back. Overpriced..room needs remodeled badly. Doors extra dead bolt didn't even work, the hole in the carpet was huge, and the dust was really bad. The breakfast area needed many more tables and chairs for the size of hotel that it is. Enjoyed the pool area but really need to think about extending the hours on Saturday from 9 to 10 ...several families as well as ourselves would of stayed another hour...wanted to play skee ball but it closed down at 9 as well..why the game room had to close down is beyond me.. The ladies at the front desk were very polite. On our way out after check out, was going to grab a cup of coffee, but no coffee was made after the pot was emptied. Rooms: Need remodeled for the price.
Grand Harbor is a wonderful place to visit. The rooms were a little dated, but our 3 yr old loved the pool! Great time for families. I recommend booking and making a memory today. Walkability: Casino is right next door.
Excellent location, the rooms were pretty clean but had a little wear and tear. The location is excellent. Right next to the museum a great stop and away from the business yet close enough to walk all around historic downtown. A great river view as well!Rooms: 3/5
We stayed here for a wedding and had “special pricing” that still had us paying $400 for two nights. I can find $109 rooms right now on Expedia. The rooms are not worth the price. Everything way outdated; most plugs are taken up by appliances. TV is small and older. Breakfast area is pretty plain; though the country potatoes were decent. At least the river is right there.
I am a local, and used the Waterpark in the early years when it was brand spanking new... so 20ish years ago....and boy, doesn't look like they have made any attempt to keep it up. The managing company needs to bite the bullet, close down for a couple of months, and give it a face lift. VERY tired. That said, the life guard we had at the kiddie pool was wonderful and interacted with the little ones with a great attitude.
ABSOLUTELY horrible. I called the hotel and made reservations two months prior to my trip. I made sure the Waterpark was functioning because I along with my sister had two little girls coming with me. We showed up, checked in and was told the Waterpark would not be open until 4pm the NEXT day. You can only imagine the disappointment in the kids faces, I explained I called three times to the hotel directly to make sure it was working. No apologies, no how can we make it better NOTHING. ALL THREE OF THE FRONT STAFF WERE RUDE AND UNAPLOGETHIC. If a place of business decides to close a portion of their hotel for whatever reason they need to call the people who have booked to make sure they are okay with that. I will never go back there. If you have little ones find somewhere else. To the front staff, learn some personal skills and have your information accurate when patrons call.
Upon arrival we couldn’t get into the room. Front desk reactivated our key card but still wasn’t able to enter. Maintenance came and claimed the batteries in the door lock were dead and “recharged” them. For the remainder of our stay it took us several attempts every time we would return to the room to get the door to unlock. Very inconvenient for the price we paid. Kid Zone was closed, Tony Romas was closed, and despite posted everywhere that the pool was open until 9pm they closed at 7pm. Kids were very disappointed. The snack shack in the water park had it posted that they would open at noon but they were closed during our whole stay. Due to everything being closed we returned to the room to watch TV. All kids channels did not have any service. Over all I would not recommend for the prices they offer.
