We are traveling to all the National Parks in our RV and loved our stay at Grand Portage lodge. We took a little break from the RV and stayed at the lodge in their suite, providing a much-needed vacation from our vacation. : The suite rooms were a great price, and very nice. Our room had a great view of lake Superior, and the food in the lodge was incredible. We had the prime rib, and then they actually prepared our lunch for the next day as we traveled to the Isle Royale National Park. The Grand Portage Campground or Lodge is definitely the best place to stay while visiting the National Park. The kids loved the toys, beach, and fire pit at night. We will for sure showcase our stay here in our upcoming episode on Isle Royal National Park! Stay Tuned. :
The campground was basic but Norma at the office was wonderful! Rates were fair and it was 2.5 miles from the boat launch for Isle Royale NP. Also close to the National Monument. Water, dump, hot showers, laundry and excellent views.
Nice place for overnight. RV Park is well spaced out, each site has full hookup. The check in process was easy, and the staff was friendly. We have site #12 which gives us unobstructed view of Grand Portage Bay aka Lake Superior. There are a Men and Women restrooms, and also a coin-operated laundry machine $2 in quarters, dryer is "free". You can also walk up to the GP Trading Post for necessities, you can fill your tank with either gas or diesel. Downside, the geese are everywhere and they drop wherever they please. We would come back and stay here again.
Camped here for a week. Loved the spacious sites compared to Two Harbors and Grand Marais campgrounds. So much more affordable as well, with electric, water and sewer hookups. Full fire rings as well. Also free use of lodge pool, hot tub, and sauna. Amazing. Great to get away from the crowds. Well worth the extra travel time. Will be back.
Campsites offer a great view of the bay! Very reasonable prices. Campsites have Wi-Fi, a bathhouse with plenty of hot water, as well as access to the pool, hot tub, and sauna at the lodge. No electric water or electric at the campsites.
We stayed in the campground in mid-july on a Wednesday evening. The park Campground was about half-full and we were able to get one of the last Lakeview sites. The views from the campground are lovely of the Bay. The marina itself is small but has a mix of boats and nice slips. Good parking for trailers. The campground has a small playground and every site has full hookup with water electric and Sewer. There is a small stony beach good for kids to throw stones into the water, but is home to many geese.
Great view of Lake Superior! Decent amount of space between sites. Full hook-ups with convenient, small laundry room and showers. Close to casino with restaurant and convenience store. Convenient to ferry to Isle Royale. Very quiet area. Spots weren't maintained well, could have used regular mowing to keep the weeds down. Staff was friendly.
We stayed for the 4th of July weekend. Great view. The mosquito population got fat on is.
Unreal views from the marina! Access to the casino and hotel pool were an added bonus. A little rocky for tenting but manageable.
Convenient and where we wanted to be in relation to the State Park, Heritage Center. The RV park itself was a little rough, gravel sites not level, water pressure was high so use your regulator. Convenient to services, Casino, beautiful views.
