Nurses and doctors were fantastic in A&E and Ward 6. Lovely stay - food was a delight and they really went the extra mile. Bedside manor was hilarious, really made the days fly in. Thank you for helping me recover :
I had a very disturbing encounter with a member of the gynaecology team employed at Dr Grays .He was very unprofessional and worryingly had no clue about my condition. He seemed to have a poor level of education and was not able to articulate his speech at times e.g by not answering my questions. He had no manners and he treated me in a rough and abrasive manner. After this awful experience I went elsewhere for treatment. Why the hospital employing someone like this is beyond me.Women deserve better!
Don't really want to give this place any stars at all. Have just discharged myself from ward 6. 22:30. Nurses didn't know what my meds where, they hadn't been put down but NO ONE had asked about these when I was admitted yesterday 04/09/22. Another nurse jumped in after earwigging in tell me I was being abusive to her nurses. Don't know why she was listening, apparently I was being disrespect to the nurse by explaining my case. They refused to return private property, which resulted in me being manhandled by a porter apparently security resulting in my having a bruised arm. Other admissions to this hospital have been sublime, treated well. Appreciate the NHS are stressed/stretched but really, this level of disrespect to people in your care. The basics are not being covered here or in anyway near being met. P.S. was admitted for the 11th time in 18 months with pneumonia, 4 of which also include sepsis. They have no idea why. God help anyone that is old or/& infirm.
I received a lack of professional care and attention by the a+e staff. I collapsed at home and made my way to the a+e department. I explained to the admin desk that I think I am having a heart attack. I was advised by the admin staff to have a seat in the waiting area. I don't remember much after this apart from coming round with a thump on the head by a heavy door to which was opened by a doctor whilst I was collapsed in the waiting area. I was taken to a room and bantered by several of the staff about this being a great way to jump the queue. I was given paracetamol and left lying on a bed for 3 hours and sent home. I still suffered with serious chest pain and consequently had a massive heart attack at home and almost died. Again on this occasion Dr Grays failed to provide any duty of care as were arguing with the ambulance technicians on route to Dr Grays and telling them to reroute me to Aberdeen. I needed thrombolised and pain relief and to which the ambulance staff were not qualified to do. Dr Grays was the closest to have this administered. I was thrombolised and left shaking erratically for two and half hours in Dr Grays a+e awaiting transfer to Aberdeen for heart surgery. Consequently I now have heart failure to a previously healthy athletic heart caused by it taking 6 hours to get me to surgery to clear clots from my main artery to my heart. I have now had 2 unsuccessful heart procedures to try to repair the heart damage caused by this alleged professional a+e team. The confident ignorance by one of the doctors who had also thumped my head with a door is traumatising! Any complaints to NHS complaints are confidently replied with lies against fact. I have a second bite at the cherry thanks to the massive experience of staff at Aberdeen royal infirmary CCU department and I am very grateful to them. Avoid Dr Grays a+e incompetency if you can. 8/12/22 update I called Dr Grays A+E for a copy of my discharge letter from 26th August. I got a lass saying hello several times as if to not hear me. I explained about the requesting the discharge letter that has never been received. She then asked for my date of birth several times and repeated it back to me wrongly after me telling her this several times. I asked her if there is difficulties and she hung up on me explaining that she will not be spoken to like this ‍. Should snowflakes be answering such important calls?
Can’t thank the doctors, nurses & the rest of the staff enough for my short stay in Elgin Hospital Every single one them were so nice & caring And a special mention to Kenny, who was an absolute star. Very professional & a great sense of humour. All of the ladies in the ward loved him. He cheered all of us up when we were going through difficult times Every hospital needs a Kenny And the hospital food was nae bad too……I 100% recommend the stovies
I attended today for a scanning procedure on my leg,and have to say that the doctor concerned and his assistant were first class- courteous, clear and efficient.Probably my best NHS experience.
The orthopaedic department is second to none. Top notch treatment, from the emergency start for me in January 2022, continuing aftercare till September 22.
Outstanding Hospital! My grandma went in through A&E. The doctors were so compassionate. They worked quickly to diagnose her and got her sent to AMU. AMU- another fantastic team of people, so lovely and they clearly cared! She was later transferred to ward 5. The care there was second to none! They looked after my grandma with such dignity and respect. We felt like she was in the best hands. They changed her daily and she was always clean. They worked wonders with her, even through a busy time on the ward! I'll never be able to thank all the staff that helped her. Honestly, they couldn't have done anymore than they did. They were all so caring and clearly love their jobs. They called to give us updates if there were any and always helped put us at ease. The physio worked well with her too. My grandma has a lot of needs and every single one was met with love, care and attention.
Dr Grays seems to be woefully understaffed resulting in a lack of care for patients. I have to wonder why this hospital keeps accepting more and more patients when they are not able to cope with such numbers. On arrival, ambulances are often queued waiting for patients to be admitted, and once in A and E, often seriously ill patients are left waiting on trolleys for hours on end as there are no free beds. Once on the ward, patients are being left for long periods of time waiting for someone to answer their call, nurses are often unaware of patients needs and limitations. Vital medications are sometimes forgotten, and generally many patients feel neglected.
I visited the Day Case ward on Thursday 17th March 2022 for an operation on my foot. I have to pass on my sincere thanks to all those involved in the running of this unit.Their pure professionalism, expertise and dedication is combined with a cheery friendliness that all go such a long way to relieving any stress or worry that you may have at the time. In fact the treatment and service that you receive is more akin to that of a five star hotel. Nothing is too much trouble, no problem is unsolvable . Everyone works together as a team and the efficiency of the ward is obvious because of this. A big thank you to you all and keep up the good work.
