Great Falls Grange Hall and Forestville School

Description

The Great Falls Grange Hall and Forestville School are two historic buildings that served as a Grange meeting hall and as a school located in Great Falls, Fairfax County, Virginia. The Forestville School was built in 1889 as a one-room school, and expanded in 1911 with the appendage of the Floris School. The Great Falls Grange Hall was built in 1929, and is a 1 1/2-story brick building with a gable front. It features a front porch supported by concrete pillars in the American Craftsman style. Both buildings are owned by the Fairfax County Park Authority. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

It is a big park that has a huge playground. and a baseball field. There is a lot of space for parking but it can be busy. There are a lot of benches that are near the playground. There is also an area to have a picnic. There is no trail that is in the park. Playground: There is a big playground in the park. Restrooms: There is only one restroom in the park. Dog-friendliness: There are not any trails to walk your dog on. Picnic area: There is a covered area with tables where you can have a picnic.
Annual Potomac River Singing in April is amazing. Hearing Sacred Harp’s Easter Anthem is highlight of my spring. People come from all over the country and the globe.
Awesome playground! It was endless fun for my kids whose ages range from 3-8.
Great park for a wide range of ages. Swings, slides, monkey bars, a merry-go-round, and all sort of things to climb on. There are also a couple of picnic tables, two pavilions, and even one barbecue pit that I noticed. Beyond the playground there are two athletic fields. And it look like there was a walking trail beside the park.
Super fun playground! Was excited they had a spinning "merry go round" like I used to play on as a child. Not many of them around anymore. Plenty of playground structures to keep your kids entertained.
This is one of our favorite parks in the DC metro area. The playground was recently updated and it's awesome for kids ranging from toddler to pre-teen. The soccer pitch is level and really well lit. The only downside is there are no permanent bathrooms. They are still using a porta-john.
One of the best parks in the area for kids. Plenty to climb on and room to run around. Good sight lines for parents to watch the kids.
Good: Kid's play area is big and has many options for kid to spend time. It has a picnic area also which is good in summer if you want to sit in shade and watch your kids. Grill available for barbecue. It is right next to library means more options for kids to checkout some books also. Bad: For rest room they had only one mobile toilet and it was very dirty. You can even go in it.
Only had a Porta potty. But, the kids did like the playground & there's plenty of benches & a pavilion for lunch. Recommend bringing wipes for hands
Had a great time with friends and family for a celebration here at the Great Falls Grange and enjoyed how removed it feels from the "city." We were well taken care of by Bill and helped get things set up and torn down before and after our event. The space itself is fairly good sized and we had plenty of room for around 60 guests with tables, chairs and food/drinks set up separately too. The only thing that could have been better was the sound as there were many times when the music blared or the mic caused a bad pop in the speakers, or the music wasn't even audible. All in all, a great venue for our needs and will recommend for sure!
