Very fun experience and atmosphere ! I was thrilled to see that they do military discount upon entry. Finding parking was a little tough due to the amount of spots they have available. The park itself, including the bathrooms and walkways, were clean. They had a food truck serving different types of foods and drinks. The views of the waterfall is amazing & the hiking trails also has great views. I will definitely be back.
The first time I was invited to visit Great Falls Park I won't lie, I was hesitant, actually a little scared. I wanted to hike in an area where lots of people hike, because we're not experience hikers. Even though i was hesitant we visited Great Falls Park yesterday. We got there before 9am, which is the best time to visit. There's no long lines to get into the park, and there were plenty of parking around that time. Seeing the water fall took my breath away, I instantly felt at peace and didn't want to move. As we continue on the hike we climb rocks, something I haven't done since I was a kid growing up in the Caribbean. This Park have picnic areas, benches to sit on, and it's a dog friendly park. While walking I looked at the faces passing us by and they were all happy faces. This is a place I recommend 100% and it will be a place I'll be visiting again.
The place has an entry fees of 20 bucks for one time and 80 bucks annual. Would recommend annual if you plan to come multiple times Fantastic place for nice family or date or personal get-away. There are multiple points to see the fall and below are few pics to get a glimpse There are also rapids in water for kayaking and possibly some spots for fishing
Warning: this address only takes you to an intersection where there are signs for the Park. I would put the Visitor Center on google maps if you want to get all the way to the park entrance. Its 20$ entry for a vehicle, or free with a National Park Pass. We went on a Saturday, so it was very crowded. The parking lot is big but it still can get full easily on weekends. There are restrooms close to the visitor center. Plenty of trails - we did about 4 miles on the River Trail. The falls is beautiful. There were people kayaking and rock climbing. We also saw a couple of deers along the trails.
Pros: There is quite a lot of walking to be done if you’re up for it, though the park in itself is a great place for a picnic, barbecue, or the combination of a date and the former two. The view of the river from the rocky cliff is quite nice and I admit I was stunned by how something so simple could look so frighteningly stunning. There are signs all round the park to help guide you along the right path or back to the visitor center if need be and where there aren’t any signs there are colors on trees to indicate the passable paths. If your up for an adventure, you’re assured of an interesting time discovering the hidden gems of this spectacular marvel of a place. Cons: the food on sale is slightly a bit too expensive compared to seven eleven a short drive away, and mobile network is limited in the entire area, it makes communication rather difficult. Verdict: I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area
Great fall park is a beautiful place. The whole scenic beauty was breath catching. It has strong currents. I love this place. If you are visiting Virgin , definitely recommending to visit this place. But be aware of the black snakes while you are walking in the woods.
What a beautiful place! While I was out in DC this was my morning stop before hitting the city and boy did I love the tranquility! The power of the falls and variety of trails! The staff at the visitor center are truly helpful and will tell you exactly which trail to take for the type of hike you want, please visit this place not buggy but spider webby
Nice location for family time in the park. I visited this place in the afternoon with my family because it’s get busier in evening and hard to find parking. The park has 14 different sight seeing that you need to explore and distance is approx 4.3 mile. I personally like the spot 6 where you go down to the rocks to reach flowing water. If you bring camping stuff and grill would to nice to spent time with family. There is no food inside, so you need to bring your own. Sight will close at dark so be mindful of your time. Entry is only $20 / car and it’s valid for 7 days.
This was our first time visiting Great Falls Park! It was a bit of a challenge to enter the park due to limited parking spots at times but we ended up stopping into the Local Safeway to get some snacks before trying to enter again. We were able to drive in with no issues. There is a $20 per car fee that you pay when entering the gates. The park is amazing and there are lots of trails to explore! We loved that it was shady in spots. We went on a day that was breezy and sunny and thoroughly enjoyed walking around the area! Restrooms: There is a restroom located not too far from the entry of the park. Picnic area: Lots of picnic area to setup games, food, and activities.
Wonderful park! There are many options of walking trails as well as spots for rock climbing and kayaking. The trails can be difficult to navigate as many of them include climbing up and over rocks so be sure to wear good shoes. However if this isn’t necessarily accessible to you I would suggest the carriage house trail which also leads to a beautiful view of the water.
