We were nearby, looking for a place to spend the night and found this campground on Google Maps. The website allowed us to make a reservation late in the night it's mandatory. We arrived around 11pm, it was easy to find the site, everything was well signed, the restroom is in the middle of the campground, close to all sites and has shower available. A big plus is that the sites are in the middle of the trees, so the sun won't bother you in the morning. The downside is that has ton of spiders everywhere! Restrooms: Close to all sites. Shower available. Dog-friendliness: Campground is dog friendly.
The bathrooms were so clean! I am a very picky person and based on reviews, I had a backup camping spot booked a little further away from my destination just in case. Fortunately, Loop C is a GREAT camp area! We will be staying there for all of our future camping in MD!! The fire pits and grill grate were in good condition, camp sites are clean and have enough space.
Such a cool little spot close to Baltimore and DC. Though they do not have electric sites, which is a bummer, no one cares if you need to plug up something in the bathhouse! The shower is great. Its quiet but just off the highway. Almost like you entered a hidden forest. Lots of downed trees for firewood. The host is a cool guy and tries to be helpful as he can. Whenever I am working in that area, I camp here! Restrooms: A little dated, and only one of the two bath houses in the open area have showers. The other is just toilets and sinks. Dog-friendliness: I personally cant, travel with my doggos for work, but I have seen many happy doggos here
Ideal location! So close to DC! Friendly camp hosts! Knowledgeable docents! Um, scratch that -- if EVERYBODY camps at Greenbelt, I can't! Let's try again ... Avoid this location -- at all costs! . Spiders everywhere -- jumping spiders, daddy long legs, found a spider so large, its eyes reflected golden light from my headlamp like eyes! . The mosquitos are large and plentiful! They carried away my wife and dog. I sure miss that dog. Restrooms: A bit aged, but wholly adequate. Dog-friendliness: Several families brought their dogs. Aside : our dogs were the best behaved. Picnic area: Picnic table and fire ring/grill provided at each campsite.
It's not worth coming here with kids because they will get run over. The ranger, especially with the white Ford Escape, drives very fast through the campground multiple times a day. Didn't even slow down for me when I tried to walk across the pathway. It is not a busy week for actual campers so it's a shame that the kids cannot safely walk around because of the rangers who are the primary vehicle traffic.
Pretty good campground. $20/night is not terrible for how close you are to DC and metro stations to take you in via train. Spots are nice and blacktopped. The fire pit and grill in my pictures are some of the nicer ones I could find to photograph. A lot of the fire pits are pretty well destroyed. The bathrooms are probably a 6/10. I'm not sure they got cleaned the first week we were there. The showers could use more attention than what they get, the shower often times has a drain full of hair. It would be awesome if there was power provided. Overall, totally worth the stay.
Awesome campground 10 miles from DC. Great price since it’s a national park. Shower was hot and large for a handicapped person.
Bathrooms are ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Maybe it's just my upbringing speaking but I believe cleaning the floors is part of cleaning a bathroom. It was "cleaned" once the entire week I was at the Campground and heres what they did: lifted the toilet seats, took the trash out, restocked the toilet paper. Nothing else. All the dried bugs, spider hordes, even a dirt dauber nest remained unchanged. Sweeping, mopping, actually scrubbing the toilets with cleaning products, in addition to the other things performed would make the bathrooms tolerable. The building is run down, sure, but it can be clean at least. Is NPS really this underfunded? I'll donate brooms and mops if it's an issue. Dead serious. How is this not embarrassing? We have people from other countries staying at this campground, touring the capital, and this is the first impression we give them? This is what you want them to see? Every single day they return from their tours? Have some pride and a sense of courtesy. This is not how you treat guests. The rest of the Campground has cramped spaces. The trails are decent. This would be a 5 star park, this close to an urban area, if they simply took more pride in the facilities. Wheres the funding going? To riding leafblowers? Restrooms: I hope you like spiders.
Woke up to a tree cutting crew working on our site at 8am. I kindly asked them not to work at our spot until we left in a couple hours but nope. Park ranger scheduled this tree trimming and didnt close this spot. I was woke up to a very professional team of workers but had a horrible night of sleep. This isn’t the norm but the ranger should respect reserved campsites
Recommend! Positives: convenient location to DC, peaceful and quiet, nice camp hosts, State Park police drive through frequently, felt safe Negatives: bathrooms and showers are very dirty and need some serious cleaning way more frequently. They are gross.
