Greenbush Brewing Co.

Description

Good ideas often start over beer. Always looking to take a good thing too far, we sat down over a beer (or two) and decided that beer itself was a good idea. Of course, not just some easy-drinking, institutional prole beer, but stuff like the beers we’d had at great bars. In short, we wanted beer with flavor. Complexity. Character. Intensity. Not words found in the mass-market lexicon.

So with a banjo burner, a bunch of industrial-sized kitchen pots and as many buckets as we could find, we jumped in feet first. Once a week, every week. Now, several years later and with a 15 barrel version of said banjo burner and kitchen pots for a brewhouse, we’re befuddling the beer judges and converting the masses. One pint at a time.

Our original brewing system has a long and sordid history befitting our line of beers. It centers on the second-to-last kettle ever built by noted coppersmith Fred Zaft, a handcrafted, solid copper 7-barrel brew kettle originally housed in a nineteenth century bar in San Francisco’s old Italian neighborhood. At one point, the bar had been totally restored to its past glory, replete with a “self-flushing spittoon” under the bar (yes, it was actually a urinal). Unfortunately, we were not able to get the self-flushing spittoon.

If you think our beers tend to cross various lineages, you’ll love tidbits like the fact that in 1951, our current building endured a freight train derailing and plowing into the building. We hope our beer can make that sort of impact on you.

My son 10 and I went there before shopping at the Garden Center; to preface, I don't drink so I wasn't there for the beer but my son wanted some chicken tenders and apparently they're awesome here...well, let me confirm, they are ! They were lightly breaded and incredibly juicy. I had the BLT and it was great. Everything tasted fresh and got our food quickly when it seemed busy on a rainy Saturday. We only had a short 15 minute wait and our waiter David was wonderful.
Ok I love it the food was good. I got the BBQ brisket sandwich it was a hefty size and delicious. The crafted cider was also good, great atmosphere it feels like home. They also have pickle foods if you are into that, I got pickle eggs and pickle popcorn both delicious. It's like a little Gem tucked away in a small part of Michigan it's worth the drive and time
Only had one meal to share with this awesome brewery, but I would be more than willing to drive all the way back to Michigan just to eat here again. But obviously, this place offers more than just food, they offer exceptional beer that easily rivals beer I've had anywhere else in the US. They have so many different options, from basic lagers to IPAs, stouts and more, as well as several unique options. If your in the lower Michigan area, this place is a must try. Check out the menu and pictures to see more!
Had the Chicken Fingers with green hot sauce and tots; compadres had ham and Swiss sand, cups of chili and of course the kettle chips w/bacon blue love dip. Previous visits included the brisket and pulled pork. 5 of 5 stars on food. Service, well this is a tough one; can only give 5 stars. I’d give the staff 10 stars. Teamwork, attitude and great service. Highly recommend. Oh yeah, the brews are great too.
Had a very enjoyable lunch here on the outside patio. Good sandwiches and beers. Very pleasant under the umbrellas. Waiter was very good and attentive. Harder to find these days!
For for the hand pie and stay for the beer. The hand pies are fresh made with fresh ingredients. The cherry pie had Real cherries and not overly sweet, syrupy canned cherry! The beers are top notch as well. I really like the Belgian Ales. However the cider was also like a delicious Apple pie desert. This brewery was surprisingly tasty!
Good food, good service and great brews. The warm pies were perfect for desert. Prices are a bit higher than other breweries similar to this establishment; my wife and I spent just over $200. We did enjoy ourselves and the atmosphere was pleasant. We arrived around 4pm and seating was easy to obtain; it got busy about an hour later. I bet this place is rocking in the evening.
Best wings I've ever had. Every beer that I've tried is great. The reuben is terrific and the beef brisckit is excellent.
Aleah, my server, was great. Very knowledgeable. She recommended 2, 5oz samplers and a taste of another of her recommendations. She was on target. Very fun place but wish I'd have eaten there. Food looked great.
Enjoy the Red Ale & Loaded Tater tots app. But we got there when they opened & the stuck us in the annex cause we had kids with us, not as cool building. Service was OK.
