It’s a bit far fr everywhere, but it is big and beautiful. You breathe peace and you can visit Basquiat grave.
BROOKLYN LADIES WHO WALKABOUT: My walking buddy Renée and I walked about the Greenwood Cemetery built in 1838..It took approximately 1.5 hours to get to from each of our starting points.. We met up in downtown Brooklyn across from the Barclay Center..Greenwood Cemetery is a landmark, with one of my favorite artist spending eternity there Jean Michel Basquiat. It was absolutely a beautiful and scenic walking trail. Green-Wood Cemetery is a 478-acre 193 ha cemetery in the western portion of Brooklyn, New York City. The cemetery is located between South Slope/Greenwood Heights, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, Kensington, and Sunset Park, and lies several blocks southwest of Prospect Park. It is generally bounded by 20th Street to the northeast, Fifth Avenue to the northwest, 36th and 37th Streets to the southwest, Fort Hamilton Parkway to the south, and McDonald Avenue to the east. Great Day..Awesome Walk..Phenomenal Views..Stunning Architecture & Sculptures.. Enjoy the sights...‍‍‍
Serenity monument in need of desperate repair verge of collapse. Safety hazard and liability. Corporation should be ashamed.
Kelly was fantastic to work with. My Mom passed away 4/20/20 and we weren't able to hold a service for her until 8/26/21. Kelly was compassionate and understanding and so helpful. Thank you for making a difficult situation easier for my sister and me. Everyone at Greenwood Cemetery was wonderful.
These effing pirates want to tack on an additional fee for internment of my mother's ashes as well as my father's even though My world war II veteran father prearranged for this entire ceremony they're going to charge opening and closing fee twice and an embodiment fee oh they're so happy to give me a 75% discount I think that's a good deal for me and I'm going to be happy with that. Can't believe the gall of this I'm sure that my father did not misunderstand this hidden charges hidden fees deceptiveness in a time like this It's just outrageous
My grandmother recently passed away at the end of January. She lived in NJ until she was in her early 80’s and when she moved to Florida she was very concerned that flowers wouldn’t be left at her mother and grandmothers grave after she left. She would always place flowers for the holidays and any other special occasions. My aunt agreed to help and took over the duty of placing flowers for her. Since this is the first Mother’s Day without her I did not plan properly and didn’t think to order flowers in advance and have them placed I moved to Texas so I am unable to place them myself. I spoke to someone this past Friday and he had assured me that it wouldn’t be an issue to have flowers delivered to the office and placed. Long story short this was not the case, the gentleman I spoke to was training and did not give me accurate information. I was so upset because I knew this meant so much to her. I called this morning and spoke to Joe twice. I was not happy after the first conversation, but he was gracious and apologetic. The second time I called I asked him a few questions and he went out of his way to help. He made sure I had all the information I needed to place future orders and asked what my grandmother name was so he could locate her gravesite. Later on he sent me a picture of her headstone with a few carnations. He said they had a few extra in the office and he felt terrible about the misinformation I was given so he found her gravesite and left a few flowers. Being so far away and not being able to rectify the situation broke my heart, I am forever grateful that Joe did this.
Wow has management of this place completely gone downhill. Had a complete screw up and forgot to open the grave for my grandmothers funeral so she had to be buried on a different day. Nothing but lies and snarky comments whenever you try to get answers about anything from these people.
In utter shock at how there is NO maintenance and upkeep to the graves! As I stand here looking at the veteran graves with flags at their nameplates, I literally had to “unbury” another 7 veterans who did not get flags as their nameplates were completely grown over!! What a disgrace to those who have served their country and to those people who pay absorbent cemetery fees!
Joe at Greenwood has been amazing! I am from out of state and needed help and he has done everything possible to help me! Thank you so much!
Very beautiful cemetery! My mother is buried out there and I'm excited that we choose this cemetery
