Greenwood Cemetery (Jackson, Mississippi)

Description

Greenwood Cemetery is a cemetery located in downtown Jackson, Mississippi. Still in use, it was established by a federal land grant on November 21, 1821. It was originally known simply as "The Graveyard" and later as "City Cemetery" before the present name was adopted in 1899. I parked on George St, behind the Supreme Court. It's one-hour parking and we walked the Cemetery well within that time. I downloaded the tour maps from the webpage - they're not the clearest maps, but still worked very well. Having the chance to walk around and take in all the history and art was really fun. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get some fresh air and walking in. Downsides: it was a little awkward to walk around where people on their porches could kind of just see you and watch you. And, thought there is more shade than I expected, going mid day in the summer will cause you to sweat a bit. Also, thumbs up on this review if you were able to spot where the Cemetery has set up the bee hives!
A very old and beautiful cemetery.
Good place to walk
