DON’T RENT HERE! Worst apartment complex ever! You will NOT get your security deposit back. Our microwave and dishwasher broke a month into moving in and we were told by maintenance they needed to be replaced. They were still broken when we moved out. And now I get a bill for new carpets??? Because they claim they had pet stains. They weren’t but what was the pet fee for??? This place sucks!
It has been a joy living here. The apartments are beautiful and the maintenance department has been top notice. Any call I had to make was responded to immediately. I enjoy it here so much trying to get a bigger apartment.
Terrible Customer Service. I went and looked at apartments twice. They told me that a one bedroom would be coming available in November. I told them that I was interested and would like to come back and look at it. I also asked if I could bring my appliances and they said yes, as long as the other ones were stored in the garage. They said that they would give me a call when it was available to see. I work out of town and called them when I returned early to check on the apartment. They said Oh it was rented. Then they showed me a 2 bedroom with a garage and I told them I would take it. After filling out the application and leaving a $300 deposit, I was told by Alicia the manager that I could not bring my appliances in. Only the refrigerator was allowed. I asked how it would look with a stainless steel refrigerator in there with a white stove and dishwasher. They didn’t care. I told them that this was quite frustrating and she offered to send me my check. I told her to hold it for now and I would think about it. I called back the next day and they told me the apartment was rented to someone else. Unbelievable. Well looking at the other reviews and after that, I guess I’m glad I’m going somewhere else.
AMENDING MY REVIEW!! Nice place to live UNTIL you leave!! THEN a complete money grab to keep security deposit AND try to charge for new carpets?? FU! Coming up on 1st year here! Great location near park, easy access to Northway. Great employees on property & office, quiet, spacious, affordable. Thanks to everyone here for making it so nice.
I’ve been living with my partner in a 3 bd/2br apartment at Halfmoon Heritage for just about a year now and it’s been such a positive experience from the very start. - Great customer service and main office who is always quick to respond if needed. - Extremely hard working maintenance staff to keep the inside and outside of the building in great shape. - Quiet Neighborhood - New appliances. - Great square ft. For the price - A quick 30 second walk to the walking trails of the town park.
Nothing but good experiences with this apartment complex. There is nothing half as good in the same price range in the area. I have central HVAC, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, parking is never an issue, live beside a gorgeous wooded area, and even have a fireplace. There is a very nice park across the street, and it’s quiet. The people in the office are have always been very kind to me. I know people who pay the same for a tiny crappy apartment in Albany in 100 year old buildings that aren’t well kept and think it’s well worth the commute to live here. The northway is maybe 10 minutes away, and snow is cleared promptly. I’ve lived here almost 3 years now.
My now husband and I moved to Halfmoon Heritage right after law school. We lived here for 4 years in a 3-bedroom unit and have only the best things to say about our experience. We looked at about 18 complexes throughout the area in various price points, and found nothing that remotely compared within this price range, or even for significantly more money. Our apartment was spacious and had lovely amenities such as a gas fireplace, attached two-car garage, crown moldings, Venetian blinds and laundry room. We had a gorgeous view of beautiful woodlands. The units were quite well-built- even on the windiest days, no cold air seeped in around doors or windows, and we rarely heard our neighbors. While some of the finishings are not luxurious per se- white appliances and laminate counter tops, we prioritized size, layout and view and could not have been happier. The maintenance team was wonderful, and snow removal was excellent and the office staff was lovely as well. As an added benefit, it is close to beautiful walking paths, the Northway, and Route 9.
Five weeks after I moved out I called asking about the status of my security deposit. They told me they would get it in the mail the next day. After 5 days of waiting I called them and asked if they could void the check and send a new one. They told me that mail moves slow sometimes and I should wait a couple more days. I called everyday after that for a week, and they always told me to wait a couple more days. Finally they agreed it probably got "lost" in the mail, they told me to call when the manager would be in, I tried 3 separate times. I don't believe she even exists. Finally after threatening to take them to small claims court they said I could come pick up the check in person because there was no sense in trying to mail me a 3rd check...they never even told me they tried to mail it a second time... It stated in the lease they would take out a cleaning fee from the deposit. Turns out this cleaning fee is $175! In addition to that they also took out another $100 for "gutter damages"??? In my final walk through the lady who was with me told me everything looked good. I lived on the second floor so I can't imagine how I could have damaged the gutters. I heard a lot of turkeys in the field next to the complex, maybe one flew into the roof. The best part was my name was spelled wrong on the check. IF they tried to mail me a check I bet they spelled the forwarding address wrong. Be warned, expect to hundreds stolen from your deposit, if you're lucky to get one back at all!
This place is great. Only downfall is the plow company they hired. For a storm that started and finished the previous day.... the loud snowblower running outside my daughters window at 5 am is unacceptable. The men they hired also scream to eachother perverse statements back and forth.
If you rent here, prepare to lose out on your security deposit. Make sure you document and take pictures when you move in as they like scamming people out of money. The location is very nice as it is next to halfmoon town park. That is the main plus but I would rent with caution.
