Hammons Field

Description

Hammons Field is a minor league ballpark in downtown Springfield, Missouri, with a capacity of 7,986 plus approximately 2,500 general admission seating. The facility, funded entirely by local businessman, hotel mogul and benefactor John Q. Hammons, is the centerpiece of the midtown development project, Jordan Valley Park, on the corner of Sherman Avenue and Trafficway Boulevard. Completed in April 2004, it is home to the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals as well as the Missouri State University Bears.Hammons built the ballpark before he had a minor league team secured to play in the stadium, though he steadfastly assured local residents it would be the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was ultimately able to persuade the Cardinals to purchase the El Paso Diablos franchise of the Texas League from the Brett Bros. and relocate it to Springfield. They became the Springfield Cardinals soon thereafter when the parent club ended its brief two-year affiliation with the Tennessee Smokies of the Southern League.FeaturesThe stadium is unique due to its baseball specific outbuildings. The stadium currently has two large buildings just outside the right-field walls. The larger of the two serves as a fully furnished indoor practice facility complete with astroturf, batting cages, and a small diamond for drills. The smaller building serves as administration, including General Manager offices, as well as housing both home teams' clubhouses, a cardio workout facility, and the physical trainer's office.

"Award-winning Hammons Field provides Southwest Missouri and the Ozarks with a memorable setting for professional & collegiate baseball and a variety of special events in the heart of downtown Springfield, playing host to the Springfield Cardinals – the Double-A Minor League Baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals – and the Missouri State Bears since 2005."

This is a fun ballpark! As this is the AA Cards ballpark, it is not so large - which is nice! You have a great view of the field from any seat and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Plus, it is clean and the staff is great! Tip: They do giveaways, so plan your visit accordingly to get some of the great items offered at the giveaway games! Note: The food and beverages are a little pricey, but don't let that stop you! If you are looking to take in a game at great venue, definitely put this on your radar! You won't be disappointed!
Fun place to see AA baseball game. Family focused and friendly, a good way to spend time with the kiddos. Food options are ball park fair with and option for Dominoes pizza, Chik fil A , and burrito bowls. Drink specials the first 30 minutes after the gates open and two club options that offer all you can eat food and one with drinks as well. Going on Saturday, expect a line to get in during the summer, but the staff gets people through pretty quickly. A fun night at the ball park is a safe bet here!

We had an awesome night. Congratulations to the Cardinals. Everything was good. Food are pricey but it is expected. Mostly Card only. Parking are $10.
We love to go to the stadium. Great environment, food, fans, activities, events. We are always pleased. Here are a few pictures of Christmas in July night and Dynamic Gymnastics night.
I really had a good time. Accept for the fireworks show which for 4th of July I thought it was pretty lackluster. I've seen more fireworks shot off after a Friday night game.
Such a fun time on the 4th of July to see the Springfield Cardinals play ball. I opted for the $30 tickets in the “roost” that included all you can eat buffet and unlimited fountain drinks. Well worth the price.
Great stadium. We have so much fun every time we go here. It's such a great experience to bring the kids to. Food is amazing, staff is great and the prices for everything isn't sky high. Definitely affordable. Got have a good time.
We've been going to Hammonds Field to watch the Springfield Cardinals games for years. We've always had pleasant experiences with parking. $10-$20 Paid parking is directly across the street from the side access entrances. Drinks and snacks are pretty standard ballpark prices, and bathrooms are kept clean and well maintained. Attendants are friendly and helpful! They now offer online ordering for food and drinks that they'll bring to your seat, which is convenient with kids!
This is the premier Minor league ballpark to enjoy a baseball game. Every seat has a first class view. Great prices at the concession stand and a lot of variety to choose from at a baseball game. My grandchildren loved it and that makes it a winner in my book.
