Another free thing to do in Boston! Such a large green space and open museum of plants. The grounds are open sunrise to sunset; the listed hours apply to the visitor center. Free tours of the grounds offered are very informative. The bonsais are incredible.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Great nature center, lots of different plants. Great bonsi trees, one is even older than the United States! Pet friendly, and bikes can go on any paved areas. Well kept and very nice.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoFree entryYes
Very beautiful! I only explored a small section because the kiddos were not having it that day, but I definitely want to go back! Very beautiful and kept up very nicelyVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
An amazingly beautiful network of paved and forest trail roads for walking or hiking. All kinds of terrain from lazy day strolling to challenging narrow stretches along rock faces. Beautiful views everywhere to connect our internet cluttered brains with the sense of freedom and spiritual renewal from the flowering wonders created by earth, sky and water. Come see the the best of humanity in the smiles and faces of joy by all who share this experience. Live It!
Wonderful space to walk around and explore. Exotic trees always blooming in interesting ways through the spring, summer and fall. Parking can be difficult on the weekend, and really most days- best bet is along the J way. There’s a headquarters as you enter the main gate and they have a 3D map of the grounds, info, and typically a seasonal display. Great spot for birdwatching and to see warblers in the Spring. The grounds spread out a long way and you’ll cross streets at several points if you walk long enough. There’s a large hill with a good view of the Boston skyline. Free & open to the public
It’s gorgeous, but the road noise is bad on the north end… if you are seeking peace and quiet, go somewhere else. Overall we loved our trip to see the lilacs in bloom… but! The sound from ambulance and police sirens was shockingly ever present. We stayed mostly to the north - trails very kid-friendly. My 8 year old loved it! Next trip we’ll explore the south, which I’m hoping will be quieter.
Feeling fresh and peaceful when we come here. Different kinds of flowers that we have never seen before. Beautiful flowers! Great place to visit!
This place is huge and beautiful. So much to see and it was very clean. I went on somewhat of a date and it was very romantic in a way. I do wish we could climb the trees though haha.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree
Such a lovely arboretum. The trees are enormous. Be sure to stroll up to the top of Bussey Hill for a great 360° view. There are also a bunch of bird feeders set up there if you like birding. They have great walking tours with super intelligent guides too.
From April warm years to November or May to October cold years is one of the most beautiful parks in the Northeast. It’s very cool because every tree is tagged with details of its type and origin plus age. They have a Bonsai exhibit to die for and a vine terrace with every type of vine you can imagine. Great urban hiking and the rabbits, squirrels and birds will keep your doggies entertained while you get some sun on your guns. Did I mention they have every tree species on earth represented? I might be exaggerating but it’s not far from true if I am.
