Welcome to the Health Food Center of Youngstown. We are proudly serving the Youngstown, Ohio area, since 1947.

At The Health Food Center, we are here to provide you with the finest quality vitamins, dietary supplements, fresh, natural & organic whole foods, body care products and health information. Make us your doorway to total health!


We are located at 6015 Market Street in Boardman, Ohio (1 mile North of Rt. 224 across from Amer's Hobby Shop). We have been at our current location since 2001, having previously been on Federal Plaza West and in Higbee's Arcade (both in Youngstown, Ohio).


We go way back to 1947, when Jane & Cyril Nickoloff took ownership. It has always been a family run business! Jane, Cyril, Stephanie Sooy (Jane's sister), along with Jane & Cyril's daughters Joyce, Judy and Nancy all worked at The HFC in the past. Currently, Nancy and her husband Edward Fox both own and operate The HFC.


We have an awesome, knowledgeable and friendly staff! We are known for our amazing and mindful customer service as well as our wide selection of vitamins, dietary supplements, herbal, homeopathic & alternative remedies, and dietary aids. Our customers are always exposed to the best and newest health products on the market. We also carry a variety of healthy foods & beverages. We have products that are allergen-friendly, organic, non-GMO & geared toward those with specific dietary constraints.


As a long-standing tradition and commitment to our customers, we have always been happy to place mail orders and special orders for most of our products. This includes products that we do not regularly carry and/or cases of your favorite products! Our customers are welcome to call or email with an order!

Every time I shop at this location a member of staff closely follows me around the isles in a not-so-subtle attempt to watch for shoplifting. I assume if you don't fit the profile of their typical customer base old white women or aren't a regular customer, it raises alarm bells among the staff. I understand their shop may be regularly shoplifted, but for honest customers it just makes an otherwise decent shopping experience a little uneasy.
Recently moved to the area from Columbus and was looking for a nice wellness market to pick up all my suppliments and local honey. This store is stocked well and I easily found all I was looking for. Only four stars because I felt customer service was lacking a bit. As I stood in line waiting to be rung up, two young men running the registers didn't smile nor thank any of their customers, they looked unhappy with judgement on their faces. In fact when I got to the register to be rung up, one had walked away and the one still there simply looked at me and dilly dallied with the air in front of him so long that a young female walked over to ring me up. She smiled and was very friendly. The two younger men could take a couple customer service tips from her. I will look for another place to shop for my needs. Theres a good chance I can get local honey direct from the source. Though I enjoy a good wellness market , I won't shop one simply because it's the only one in the area, when it has bad customer service. Though my personal experience today was good, what I did see didn't bode well for good future visits. I guess I'm just used to a well rounded customer experience, as I always got excellent service from the shop in Columbus. So yeah, they might have what you're looking for but you'd have to get lucky like I did to get an associate who acts like they enjoy their work.
The Health Food Center is a wonderful store that carrys every high quality supplement you can think of including but not limited CBD products among many other related projects. The staff are highly professional yet friendly and knowledgeable. I had some questions related to CBD products and a young man who works there answered some questions for me and was honest about the questions he didn't know the answers to, he referred me to the owner who was more then happy to take time out of her busy schedule to answer all of my questions as well as thoroughly educate me on CBD benefits and did so in a manner that didn't make me feel like I was just getting a sales pitch, this lady is not only a true professional but she is so obviously knowledgeable on the products she sells, she's very nice and non condescending, I have degenitive joint disease in my thumb joint that causes a tremendous amount of pain, she listened to my explanation of my problems then proceeded to show to me the products that she believed to work, I bought a CBD roll on and I can not believe how great and fast this works, within 10 to 15 mins I noticed some relief and later that evening after another application I was about 80% pain free, this is unbelievable since I've suffered with this for about 5 years now, tried everything from narcotic painkillers to electroshock therapy, nothing worked like this, and its non addictive. Thank you Health Food Center for your amazing help, you've made me a regular customer now and I'll certainly be back and I'll also refer you to anyone who asks me about where to get relief from any of their pain issues. After doing my research I've found that their products are of some of the best quality available and their prices are relatively inexpensive for products of this quality. I recommend to anyone looking for a product to get the pain relief their looking for but also for any supplements they use or are looking for answers and recommendations for a product that will help benefit them with any health need they may need.

My mother visits this store frequently. I’ve visited for the first time today and was rather impressed by the variety of goods that were available.There were also some items that drew me to them because of the displays that superbly use space. The staff was congenial and helpful. It’s a very nice business, it’s good when you don’t mind spending your money in a store
Came in today Thursday August 4th and asked about sunflower oil NOBODY else seemed to have. The staff was very kind and polite. I told them it was for one of my snakes I own. They had many questions and seemed generally interested in what I had to say. Very good experience. Will recommend.

I went to Youngstown State and really like this store. It was close enough to campus where I could get a good bike ride in, the staff were all very friendly to me, the prices were reasonable, and they had a really wide variety of stuff. I often times found stuff I was looking for and always left with stuff I didn't know I needed... Thanks for your business!
I went to this place for the 1st time since the 1970s. It didn't disappoint. The items were plentiful, varied, and very nice prices and staff. I *will* be back!
My wife and I have been shopping at the Health Food Center for more than two decades, since before their move to Boardman. And we have been very pleased with the service and products. NOT ANYMORE. NOT AGAIN. Yesterday as I approached the cashier counter to pay for my merchandise I kept my mask on and a distance of at least six feet from any other customer or staff. None of the latter had a mask. I had just come from the local craft beer store and before that my doctor's office and everyone in both wore masks. None here. I suppose I could live with that, but it was the next thing that happened that I found quite disturbing. As I stood ready to check out a young man behind the counter, no mask, directs the customer behind me to move forward and pay for her merchandise, placing her no more than two feet from me, should-to-shoulder, no more than two feet at the same counter! None of that looked unusual to the rest of the staff behind the counter; not one of them suggested that proper distance be kept. On the contrary, the young man looked at with disappointment when I chose to move to a safe distance. What world are they living in? NOT ANYMORE. NOT AGAIN. EVER. Gamble with your health. Do not gamble with mine.
