I have had relatives at both the N Chas location and the Rock Hill location. both times care was excellent, good progress was made and patients discharged. Staff is top notch and took excellent care of my family members. I highly recommend Encompass Health Rehab to anyone looking for top notch care you will get it there.
Just returned home from a two week stay at MUSC ENCOMPASS Hospital/ Rehab. First impression was the cleanliness of the entire complex. Staff getting you settled in goes out of there way to make you comfortable. Wonderful Nurses take a thorough assessment of your health. Doctors are assigned to each patient and your are seen everyday by members of the there health staff. Now for the best reason to go to the hospital/rehab. Physical therapy and Occupational and Speech therapy is outstanding. The gym is full of the latest equipment and everyone of the many therapists work to get to help all patients reach their potential. You soon become a member of their family, not just a patient. Everyone working there is upbeat and dedicated to helping everyone reach there goals. They credit the director for creating a wonderful working space. He walks the halls enroute to meetings and stops to greet all the patients. His smile along with the other employees is infectious. You leave there with a renewed feeling you will regain a normal life, as is humanly possible. Thank everyone there for leaving a positive impression for me on my long road to a full recovery.
After spending 10 days at MUSC with Guillain-Barre Syndrome and being so incredibly debilitated and unable to move to assist myself in any way whatsoever, I was transferred to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital. I was uncertain what, if any, improvement I could expect, and was terrified of the uncertainty of my abilities. I was paralyzed from my shoulders down and up my neck and my face.....I struggled to eat because my tongue was affected and I couldn't shut my eyes, even when sleeping. I could not lift my head nor my arms to help with transfers or changing my clothes or attending to more personal care. I was physically completely dependent. In addition, I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I had very little energy available to invest in my own care. I was scared and vulnerable. From the time of my arrival via ambulance transportation, every person I encountered at Encompass was affirming and encouraging. They invested in me and believed I would succeed in my recovery, even when I was unable to do so for myself!! From the admission process, to wound care assessment, to dietary, to therapy, to discharge- it was a process of excellence. The doctors in charge of my physical care Dr Patel and my rehabilitative care Dr Walker were attentive to my concerns and continuously monitoring my condition and responding to any needs. When they weren't there, the doctors who cared for me were just as attentive! Of course they could not do that without the nursing staff, who was caring and compassionate~ always asking if there was anything else they could do~ almost like concierge service with skilled nursing abilities!! The nursing techs were personable and efficient, never causing embarrassment during their care of me, which included the most personal of needs! My physical improvement would have never happened as it did without the teams of skilled professionals who tirelessly invested themselves in my care. I was profoundly impacted by those involved with Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy! I received 3hrs of therapy a day, at least 5 days a week. My speech therapist identified my areas of weakness related to swallowing and worked to get me stronger yet prevent choking on my food or drink. I was so impressed with their skilled approach to every area involved with my speaking and swallowing! My Occupational Therapy team identified the areas impacted by the GBS and how it impacted my functional ability to care for myself. They immediately implemented a plan to help me regain my abilities in those key areas. My Physical Therapy team immediately began building my strength, always working toward my stated goal that I wanted to "walk out under my own power" on the date of my discharge. They were firm and compassionate in their approach, never wavering in their belief I could do what they were asking. They believed in my recovery even when I could not. Once it was time for me to transition home, the case managers ensured that would happen seamlessly! The 24/7 visitation policy is outstanding! And the welcome families receive during the therapy process beautifully complements their programs. The program has transparency from start to finish which helps families feel valued and patients feel secure. I would recommend Charleston SC Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital without hesitation, for my family, for my friends, for anyone-especially those with a neurological diagnosis such as a spinal injury, MS, GBS, etc... These people became much more than simply my caregivers, they became friends. I cannot thank them enough. They were an answer to prayer! Maybe they are the answer to yours as well.
Encompass rehab and MUSC have brought together an award winning team of caring knowledgeable professionals who surround their patients with everything they need to achieve maximum recovery. Their team based treatment approach combines admin, doctors, nurses, therapists, and technicians, as well as speach, cognitive therapy and dietitians, that create the perfect environment for any patient in need of rehabilitation. I cannot thank each and every member of the Encompass team that I have met or worked with enough for everything you have done for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Jeanette S.
My husband was a patient at this hospital for less than a month due to our insurance. His time there was so helpful after his stroke. The doctors, nurses, and therapist were up front and honest. They listened to our concerns and answered our questions. The therapy was great and my husband pushed for more if he could get it. The only downside is some of the food choices where not so good for my husband.
After experiencing a fractured kneecap, I was transferred to encompass to begin my rehabilitation. The structure of care given, and the personnel providing the different levels of care are exemplary. Each one in their roles provided compassion along with physical therapy occupational therapy and group therapy. I found it beneficial, in the beginning phase of rehabilitation, because not only was my physical being strengthened so was my confidence. Thank you to everyone that I encountered.
I was transferred to MUSC Health rehab center in North Charleston, SC. The team of nurses, techs, PT and OTs have been the key to my recovery. The team of PT/OT’s are extraordinary, knowledge and phenomenal to getting my recovery started. Even being on the younger side the staff cared 100%. Thank you to Jeff, Kyle, Vander, Megan internship, more names that I can remember as well as nurses Shee, Ellen, Ella, D, Tiffany, Bria and many more. Thank you to all the techs as well. So many names I just can’t name them all. Thank for from the bottom of my heart for EVERYTHING! I highly recommend MUSC rehab.
MUSC Rehab has been an extremely positive relationship following a painful accident. The atmosphere is upbeat and “can do”. HR has done a wonderful job recruiting positive, friendly, skilled personnel that form cohesive working groups. PT & OT are able to present therapies gently, yet firmly. They encourage with a realistic and personalized goal in mind. The nursing and assistant patient care staff stay busy caring for the individual needs. They do this well with a pleasant & competent demeanor. The patient is well covered for anything that might need addressing from dietary instruction, home health needs, medical equipment, discharge planning. I appreciate the assistance and support the vast team has given me on my road to recovery and my normal life routines. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
